Credit card for wedding expenses?

Has anyone else used a rewards credit card to pay their vendors? I'm thinking of applying for the capital one venture card to earn miles for our honeymoon. You earn miles on everything and if you spend $3000 on the first three months, you get 40,000 miles. I have no idea what that equates to but I can pay my photographer and make a venue payment and I'll be at the 3000. I'm not planning on going into debt, I'll pay it off every month from my wedding savings account. Has anyone done this and is it worth it?

We did the same..for everything wedding related. We used my Venture Card and his Chase Freedom unlimited. As long as you pay it off each month with wedding savings money, then using a credit card is highly recommended!

We did that. We have a ton of points for buying things we would've bought anyways. And we use our wedding account to pay it of. Win win and I now have all the hotels(road trip) for our honeymoon paid for Smiley smile

I just cashed in 75 dollars in rewards today from mine today actually. I just transfer money from my wedding savings to the credit cards each month to pay it. It's worth the rewards. I usually pick the cash back option.

I used my Southwest Rewards Card on some of our expenses. Was able to get my airfare for the honeymoon totally covered so we only had to pay for DH's.

We did. We have the United card. We use it to pay for everything and pay it off each month. We are going to Boston on points in July!

Do you have a Costco membership? The Costco Citibank card pays back yearly in Costco gift certificates, I believe. We just got it.

I wanted to do that but none of our vendors took credit cards, with exception of the florist but that was less than $500.

Ya I think we will do that. It's a good idea. If you have the money to pay it off right away.

As long as you're paying it off each month- do it! Also can for no interest for the fist year & low interest rates

I have that card, great for travel credit. You can also redeem your points for other type of gift cards, like Sephora. I am going to use to help buy bridesmaid gifts.

We opened a Capital One Venture and I love it. We've put all deposits on it, paid off in full every month. We have $600 we've earned in points so far and applied that to our Honeymoon flights. We started putting our rent and bills on it since we don't have anything due until final payments are made. That way, we keep earning points!

Thanks guys! I almost went for the Chase Sapphire, until I saw the annual fee.. I applied for the capital one card even though it kind of sucks that 40k miles is only equal to $400

We used the Venture for ours- we ended up having enough miles to pay for our honeymoon flights and a large amount of our hotel. Like someone else said it's also a safer option in case you have to dispute charges. There are also no international fees. I love that card! We just paid it off monthly and only used it for the wedding.

@jesslin the fee is pretty high but it if you use the $300 travel credit then it technically only comes out to $150. They also cover the cost of TSA pre-check. That annual $300 is amazing, anytime I hop in a Uber or my ezpass reloads, I get that money back until I hit the $300 limit. They still charge the $450 but you get $300 back annually for travel related purchases. ETA: clarity
