Hi everyone!! We're planning a renewal and reception in October 2021 after being married with 20 family members in October 2020. Thanks COVID! We're planning BBQ, lots of music and casual vibe for the reception (in a barn in NJ) but we do want a renewal ceremony... although trying to be creative with that.

I'm looking for creative ideas for the vow renewal ceremony. Maybe to involve our guests in some way? I have been googling and I really thought there would be more ideas out there with so many going through something similar. My husband and I are not religious or quite frankly, not serious people. We laughed through our wedding ceremony and had a blast!!

We are really looking for the same funny, laid back vibe for the renewal ceremony.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, we are very much open to hearing them! Thanks!!

I’m in the same boat and plan on kinda doing my vows as a reflection of the past year married ( married October 30th 2020 and big wedding is October 22nd 2021) and kinda focus on the fact of still being able to celebrate and fall in love like as if it was the day we got married because that’s important and I fee incredibly lucky that I get to do it all over again on a large scale with much more stuff involved and wearing my dress and my bridal party getting ready together but when you said you laughed during your ceremony it reminded me of when we did ours snd one thing that was really fun was the sand ceremony we did and the sand was lagging in the funnel and we were hysterical and laughing over it so that’s always an idea!!!

Hi Carolyn! I'd just take that same casual joyful vibe into your vow renewal ceremony!!
Your officiant can open by welcoming your guests and talking about some of the trials and tribulations of the last year (with several jokes thrown in 😉). You can exchange more light hearted vows as well - my friend included "I promise to always be prepared with goldfish and snacks" as one of her wedding vows!!
You can also include your guests in your vows by asking them if they promise to love and support the two of you in your marriage!
