Craziest requests for your wedding

Tyff, on April 3, 2022 at 2:31 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13
Ok I had to share this and I think this site is the best place. My cousin asked me if she could propose to her husband during my wedding - yes her husband! Because she wants to renew their vows. She thought during the garter toss would be fun. Where do people get these ideas?!?!? My lovely sisters shut her down but I’m still shaking my head. Anyone else get someone asking for random things like this!??

My aunt asked why one of my cousins (not her son, one of her nephews) wasn't allowed to bring his girlfriend to our wedding when all the other cousins would have their SOs there. He was 15 and everyone else was in their late 20s.

LOL!!! My guide on this is: if it’s a long term SO or if person will not know anyone else at the wedding or it’s someone in the wedding party then they can have a plus one. 15 year olds totally not in that equation 😂🤣😂

I meant to write that your cousin is rude.
Yesterday, my cousin who claims to be so close told me he’s not coming to my wedding even though he was one of the first people I gave the date to more than a year ahead of time. He’s making excuses, but I know it’s cause he doesn’t want to spend the $ to travel, etc. My feelings are hurt because I’ve always gone out of my way for him and when he visited me I would pay for meals and other things. Now I feel he’s being selfish. My expectations are too high of people I guess.

One of our groomsman asked if he can bring a friend to our wedding. mind you, his wife was invited and attending so that means they just wanted to bring a 3rd person. and he asked us only like days before.

When my then-29 y/o sister got married 19 years ago, she asked me to quit my Boston job to help her with the final months of her August Chicago wedding. I actually did leave because it was time to go. I think I helped her with diy decor and favors, find a dress & shoes, hosted 1 bachelorette out of 2, and 1 bridal shower out of 3. When it was my time to wed 19 years later (me in mid-40s), I told her to just show up in a formal dress that was comfortable.

My uncle asked if he can sit at his own separate table by himself because he does not like his brother's fiancé. He doesn't want to sit with his kids or with my grandmother (his mother), but he should be entitled to his own private table.

My future MIL asked me to reserve one of the rooms I have blocked off for out of town guests for her to stay in the night before the wedding. She only lives 15 minutes away from the venue. She said it's because she "doesn't want to deal with the cats" the morning of the wedding. So now someone else has to go to her house the morning of to take care of her pets. I even booked our hair appointments at a salon by her house so that it would be more convenient for her the morning of. It's not that big of a deal but it has made things just slightly more complicated for the day of haha
