cowboy boots dilemma...

amee, on May 14, 2012 at 4:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

So I really want me and my girls to wear cowboys boots (at least for the ceremony, then they can do whatever they want for the reception). my dress is white, and they're wearing purple. I'd love to wear brown boots, but here's the problem... the guys are wearing grey suits and white shoes. my sister (Mrs. of Honor) says we should look for grey boots, but I don't love them like I love the classic brown cowboy boot look.

any suggestions or help? should I go with grey (or try to find them, I'm not sure how easy that's going to be), or go with the brown that I love, even though they might not match the guys too well?

suggestions, please Smiley smile

I say if you like the brown do the brown! BUT it depends on the type of person you are. I'd personally have to have it all match. especially if the girls dresses are short. i just think its a lot of colors mixing in there.

have you thought of maybe getting your bridesmaids in white boots, than maybe you in a purple? or doing them in the grey and you in purple?

    Purple boots would be awesome...

if you'd like it. If you hate purple boots, then not so awesome.

Yeah, now I'm thinking white... I don't know if the purple would work, because it would have to be such a perfect shade of purple. maybe white will be easier to find than grey...

I'd go with the white for you and grey for the BMs

I stick with brown cowboy boots. They're cowboy boots, you know? Plus, I don't know who's paying for the boots, but I would definitely wear brown cowboy boots again. White or gray? Not so much. Cowboy boots aren't cheap and I'd like to buy/wear something I could wear again.

I'm definitely trying to keep it on the cheaper side of cowboy boots, and I think brown might be a way to do so (finding cheap grey or white boots is not so easy), but I don't want brown boots and grey suits to clash either Smiley sad

I think that cowboy boots would make such a statement, you wouldn't have to worry about them clashing or matching. If I were a guest, I'd think, "cute cowboy boots!", not "those boots totally don't go with those tuxes...". I wouldn't worry. People won't be paying attention to those little details that us brides sometimes obsess over.

Go with your gut.. Don't worry about Color clashing if it is what you want.. Honestly people aren't going to look back and say "so and so's boots didn't match their suits" I can't even tell you if I even remember what anybodys shoes looked like at their weddings!

PS if you find grey boots please let me know.. FH and I want grey boots as well and can't seem to find any that are cute!

These girls aren't wearing purple, but they're wearing cowboy boots and the guys are wearing gray.

Id go with brown or black. That way they're more likely to get worn again, especially when you consider what your going to pay for them. Coloured boots tend to look kinda cheap sometimes. Just my opinion.

Also don't forget to break them in well before you wear them. Nothing hurts worse then new boots

Do the guys have to wear white shoes? I think brown cowboy boots would look fine if the guys wore black shoes instead of white

I found a picture of grey suits and brown boots! the girl on the right has a purple dress on, too! oh, and Miranda Lambert had her girls wear brown boots, while Blake Shelton wore a grey suit jacket, which makes me feel so much better! I might just be able to pull off brown boots with those grey suits. the more I think about, the more I want brown boots...

I am thinking about changing the guys shoes from white to black, though. I haven't decided on that yet.

My bridesmaids are wearing cowboy boots and I was going to have them wear brown since some people already had brown and they wouldn't have to buy them. Originally, I really wanted grey boots (since the guys are wearing grey tuxes), but couldn't find them. However, I just found grey Madden Girl boots on DSW.com for $60 and free shipping...so I think I may switch to the original grey idea. (They are not real leather, but they look better than the brown ones I was going to have them purchase at Target.) Just wanted to let you know that if you keep looking, there are some no-so-ridiculously priced cowboy boots out there. Smiley smile
