Covid Wedding 2021? Is it even possible?

Ruth, on September 17, 2020 at 6:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
There was an article today I’ll link the article if I can below.... it talks about full blown weddings being predicted to be back by summer or fall 2022 according to Dr.Fauci. I am 41 never been married, our wedding is being held at a state park (all weddings this yr were cancelled) so we pushed it up to next yr. I am not going past next yr lol Im getting old! My wedding was for 75-80 ppl so not a big wedding close friends and family. If weddings are not running normally by May of next yr I will have to do something more intimate back yard style so that only our immediate family can all attend. This is soooo stressful not being able to plan and with all the uncertainty how are you ladies handling all this? 😩http://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/fauci-says-planning-weddings-and-parties-for-2022-is-a-pretty-good-bet/ar-bb199pg5?ocid=ientp

I saw that headline today and initially panicked. However, it’s really just saying that the population as a whole will not be vaccinated until late 2021. They still think a vaccine will be available late 2020/early 2021. It’s just that there won’t be enough the vaccinate everyone immediately. I personally think restrictions will have to significantly loosen as soon as a vaccine is available. Granted, you may still decide it’s not safe for certain friends or family members to attend without being vaccinated, but at least it would be your decision to make. I’m a healthcare worker and moving ahead with planning my May 2021 wedding. (Fingers crossed!!!!)

Don’t feel bad I’m late 50’s and had to postpone from June 2020 to June 2021. I was devastated! I’m moving forward and hoping for the best. We were also planning an intimate wedding of 70/80. Best of luck to us all. The sad part is I want to do something to keep my wedding alive but so done with everything in April when we canceled I have nothing to do.

Thank you so much Lisa! Its frustrating not being able to fully plan it.... so many things are in limbo since its a state park, with and indoor venue it will all depend on my state of CT as to wether they will be allowing indoor weddings in Sept and the coordinator said they wont know until May 2021. I Hope you are right and we can all move forward with some normalcy in 2021! Good luck to you!

Thank you Liz! I hope we get to have our intimate wedding in 2021! Sorry you had to postpone yours! So much uncertainty I'm ready to elope! But I have 2 sons who would want to be present and after they voiced their opinion I cant do it with out them there, my partner was on board with eloping, but he now feels if its not just the 2 of us he would have to invite his sons (which he is not at all close too and they frankly do not care) and a bunch of his close family (he is really close to his parents and siblings)... thus making it impossible for us to just elope. Ughhhh this is so stressful! I sure do things get better... such happy moments are now turned into moments of anxiety. 😩

I think for different states it varies. I’m in Maryland and our personal limit is 100 and the venue told me even in May we should be good. It’s not a huge number of people and there are many ways we can social distances 100 people in a huge ball room. She has eased a lot of my scares.

My big wedding is still on for next year and I am continuing to plan as if it’ll happen. I will make my final decision in January or February about whether we keep it on or postpone

Was looking to see where you were from, and saw it was CT...ugh. That's where I live. We postponed to April but we're getting married in the South, and I am glad for it. I wouldn't count on Lamont to do anything.

People are having weddings, even in 2020. Its just a matter of what you mean by normal. And honestly seems like it depends on the venue and how theyre dealing with stuff. Seems like you should be okay in 2021 with something outside but I know there are so many variables that could affect your wedding

Its a state park with an indoor venue. So its all contingent on what phase we are in in 2021. Right now my state of CT is at no more than 25 gathered indoors 😩 even though my wedding is an intimate one Its still at 75 to 80 ppl. Hoping for the best! 🙏🏼
