Covid planning help

Hello brides and brides to be! We are still 50/50 about having a wedding this December, but it’s going to be crunch time soon and I’d love your ideas on this. We picked a beautiful mansion as our venue, but if we make the “Covid cut” to our guest list, it just doesn’t make sense to have catering at the venue for 15 people (there’s no working kitchen, so we planned on heavy apps and more of a cocktail party for 30-40 originally). I’d now like to take our guests to a private dinner at a nice restaurant after BUT I’d love an excuse to mingle at the mansion and get our money’s worth from the rental fee.

Is it strange to do a cocktail hour after a short ceremony THEN go to dinner?...I could see us doing cocktails and apps for 15 guests at the venue, but I’ve never done a wedding this way before. Just trying to think of how to structure everything in this weird weird time.

Why not have a nice restaurant cater you there?
Try ezcater.com - I’ve used them for many events of all sizes

We're having a wedding reception at a beautiful mansion after covid and cocktails/heavy apps for 15 people not at a mansion this year!
I don't think think what you've described is weird, but I think you might as well get as much as you can out of the venue you were so excited about by doing the whole thing there.
Especially because there are a lot of restrictions* on restaurants right now, I think you'll get an experience that's closer to what you envisioned if you stay close to your original plan.
*this will probably be different by December, but we don't know if it'll be better or worse and at the moment, in most states, there are limits on the number of people who can sit together and how much you can mingle.

I think that still sounds wonderful! 🥂

We attended a friends wedding in Charleston where the cocktail hour was at the ceremony space, and then we went down the street for the reception!
