covid faq Page?

Chantelle, on July 14, 2021 at 2:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
For anyone who has an upcoming wedding, and using a website, are you guys addressing COVID related questions in your FAQ page? As a guest, would you appreciate this info?

If I were a guest, I would want to know the local restrictions so I can know whether to bring a mask, my vaccination card, etc.

Yes! I have a question there that addresses COVID.

We just put that we'll be providing a hand sanitizing station when they first arrive, and are welcoming masks for those that want to wear one, although it isn't required. We said that if they are feeling unwell or experiencing any symptoms related to COVID, that we'd prefer them to stay home, although we'd miss them. Also said how we're keeping a close watch on state restrictions and will update our page accordingly.

As a guest, I appreciate the info because it helps me be better prepared. Do I need to bring a mask? Hand sanitizer? Will they require a negative test result and/or vaccination proof?

My husband and I are not for our upcoming reception. Only because our state is pretty much fully open so we felt there was no need and most of our guests are already in state. It wouldn't hurt anything for you to provide that information though!

    • This is how we’re wording ours on the FAQ page:
Will there be any COVID-19 precautions? The best precaution you can take before attending any large gathering such as a wedding is to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, as per TN:FY21">CDC recommendations.

The ceremony and reception will be held in a location that is either fully outdoors or in a covered structure with open doors and circulating airflow.

Not a chance. Anyone that's still worried about Covid just won't attend, like my fiance's father. We're still sending them an invite for a keepsake, but we know they're not coming. Our guests are people that we work with on a daily basis, go out to eat with, have over for dinner, have playdates with, etc.. We specifically chose vendors that are doing in person meetings/tastings.

For my upcoming October wedding, I had required my guests are either fully vaccinated or have a negative covid test within 2 days of the wedding. The vaaaast majority of our guest lost is fully vaccinated. We put this on the FAQ page as well as on the online RSVP. It is very clear to guests what our ask is. We also included a note about wanting to be cautious and especially keep our elderly family safe.

As a guest at a recent wedding, I would have liked knowing if the other guests were vaccinated... the bride & groom did not include any info about it which did make me slightly nervous.

I would only include it if you're requiring or expecting guests to do something - be vaccinated, get tested, wear a mask - because those are necessary to know before deciding to attend the wedding and something you don't want to spring on someone when they get to the wedding. If you're having a normal wedding, I don't think it's necessary 😃

Oh nice! We just have it on the online RSVP on the Knot. So for our 1 family of guests coming that is not vaccinated, we are texting them to follow up and make sure they know how to get tested on time and share the results with us.

You can add it to the RSVP there? How does that work?

You can add any multiple choice question you'd like. What I did was say "What covid-19 precautions will your party take?" and the options were

    1) My party will be fully vaccinated (including the two weeks post inoculation) by (date).

    2) My party will not be fully vaccinated by (date), so we will take covid tests with negative results within 2 days of the wedding.

It made it clear to my guests that everyone has to take a safety precaution, and it easily tells me who I need to follow up with Smiley smile

I didn't know this.. Thank you so much. My wedding is a long way away and I'm pretty sure 95% of my guests are vaxxed, but if Delta is still a concern then, I might do this.

I like this multiple choice option! We can only think of one or two guests total not vaccinated and are requesting everyone on the RSVP get tested within 24 hours of the wedding regardless of vaccination status. At that point, we're trusting the honor system, but wondering if we should have guests confirm.

We will base our Covid-FAQ off this article, and update with measures closer to the date of the wedding. Right now our FAQ has a section named "are there going to be any COVID- related restrictions?" and it says "We are not able to tell you for sure yet. We hope that by then, it will be safe to gather and celebrate. At present, however, we assume that at least some COVID protection measures will continue to apply, especially the one stating that all guests need to be vaccinated, recovered or tested. Should you need a test, please let us know and we will help you organise it on the day of wedding. However, we have (unfortunately!) not yet found a crystal ball lying anywhere (Lars will check the cellar again). All in all, we're keeping a close watch on the restrictions and will update our website accordingly or contact you directly."

We just made the decision this week about vaccine status. I added language to our FAQ and sent out an email. For us, we know that 90%+ of our guest list is vaccinated, but we have several older relatives with existing health conditions, or children who cannot get vaccinated. So far, we've had a very good response. We will also have a question in the RSVP (online RSVP only) for people to confirm that they are (or will be) fully vaccinated. This is the email we sent today:

    Dearest family and friends,

With November quickly approaching, we wanted to take a moment to share an important update regarding safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at our wedding.

The safety of our guests is our top priority and we have been closely monitoring state and local guidelines. Based on the recent surge in cases due to the Delta variant, we ask that all guests in attendance (above the age of 12) be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least two weeks prior to attending our wedding on November 5.

While we hope to celebrate our wedding with all of you, we understand that getting vaccinated is a very personal medical decision. If you are not able to join us in person, we know that you will be celebrating with us in spirit.

We are still in the process of determining what other safety measures we may need to put into place for the day-of. As decisions are made, we will post updates on our wedding website.

Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these difficult decisions.

    Cheers,
    [Bride & Groom]
