covid Brides! Plans for small ceremony?

Lauren, on March 25, 2020 at 5:02 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 3

We postponed our April 18th wedding but are still planning getting married that day. We have our marriage license and our friend is our officiant. Question for anyone who has already got married who also postponed and for those of you who are postponing but still planning a small ceremony on your own - what are your plans? Are you still wearing your dress? I had just had my final fitting so I really want to wear it (who gets to wear their dress twice??) In some of the real covid weddings I've seen posted, it seems like a lot of couples are wearing alternative attire which is cool - I'm all for the nontraditional but curious if anyone else plans on getting dolled up in their original dress and dancing around the living room with their future spouse?? Smiley smile

Any other small living room wedding ideas people are having?

I'm glad you're still going to have your ceremony. I say why not wear your dress?! I think everyone would love to be able to wear their dress more than once. lol Plus you wouldn't have it 9n fir too long anyway.

I also wondered the same. If we get married on our original date 4/24/20 and do a reception later. Do we still do a little ceremony again at the reception? And wear the same dress or a different one. Omg this is hard

I am in a slightly different situation but maybe my story will help. My now husband and I really wanted to be married soon after our engagement but it was not possible with the constraints of the wedding industry, so we legally married last July with a plan to have a big wedding celebration summer 2020. My husband and I did a small ceremony last July with two friends as witnesses and our officiant, who is also one of our friends at the same little outdoor park we got engaged and had our first date. I wore a $20 white dress and my husband wore his favorite suit. It was wonderful. Now we are in the situation where we need to rescheduled our date because of COVID-19. Even though we had our original ceremony before this crisis, our hearts go out to the couples facing the decision to have a small ceremony, reschedule, or both. I can’t speak to the dress because I did not have the option to wear mine the first time around but I am happy to be having two ceremonies. It was so intimate and personal to share my vows with just my husband and that small group. We are both pretty introverted and feel less nervous about the big day now. We are thankful everyday to be married and have that bond as we face the rest of the wedding planning process and this uncertain world together.
