covid brides - July 2020 Wedding

TANIA-LYNN, on July 1, 2020 at 12:54 PM Posted in New York Planning 1 9

So we're planning on going ahead with our wedding on 7/25/2020 in the Finger Lakes Region in NY. Our wedding is entirely outside, and on private property owned by family. Our tent and DJ are still planning to be there. All of our food is being prepared by family. No one has traveled recently, and everyone is fairly local. We are however still expecting about 200 people to show up.

Has anyone else had a larger wedding yet and got away with it? I read at one point that Cuomo said weddings could hold up to 100 guests. We are planning to space and social distance.

I guess I'm just looking for clarity for the what ifs of the situation.

Whew girl!! that's a lot of people in this day and age. will you be asking your guests to wear masks? im in maryland but have family in new york and they are really weary of people traveling to NY from other states.

Just the statement of “got away with it” just tells me it’s not a good idea. It goes against the governor’s orders.

I just would not be comfortable at an event (let alone hosting one) with 200 people right now. Regardless of the circumstance.

We have a family friend who is still having one with 100+ people in July, but my family declined the invitation due to safety/ health concerns.

We sent our invites out right before all the madness, and once everything got shut down we really thought we would have a much smaller number. We don't have anyone coming that isn't already in NYS, and no one from the city/outer city areas. We told guests that wearing a mask is up to them. It will all be held outside in a wide open field, so social distancing isn't too much of a problem.

Also, I believe I read somewhere that Cuomo said outdoor weddings could have up to 100 guests and then this morning i read 50.

I'd check with your city and county to see what the local restrictions are and try to abide by them. They're in place for a reason! I'd definitely also encourage mask wearing and make sure that all tables are spaced 6' apart!

Cuomo hasnt released guidance for weddings as of yet. Currently social gathering limit is at 50 people in phase 4.

Right now the cap at social gatherings in phase 4 is 50, regardless if its your own property or what. its silly because u can have 50% outdoor capacity for restaurants but cant have it for weddings but what can ya do. i dont forsee the number going up by july 25 unless we finally get some guidance in the coming weeks but if I were you id plan on the 50 to be safe and avoid having to uninvite guests last minute

You need to cut that list down, I'm sorry.

There's no way the limit is going to go up that fast, in fact, we're retrenching because of other states not being safe.

Honestly, I'd be terrified to be in a group that big right now.

I really don’t think 200 people is possible sorry.... all I have found is a gathering limit of 50 people whether indoors or outdoors.
