covid 19 - Future Wedding Planning

Hello Smiley smile

Hopefully this post finds the majority all of you well. For those of you that have weddings further out, have you decided to plan things early than your "timeline" says to do because you are finding yourself at home more with more time to plan now that these "safer at home" orders are in affect in most areas? Therefore things will be getting rescheduled in the future, and might take up some of your future planning time?

We aren't getting married until September of 2021, but I have so much free time that I am feeling guilty for not using that free time to plan ahead, but than I am also feeling like I'm looking at things too early. Is anyone else who has a wedding over a year out planning more ahead than they thought they would due to having more free time? Does it really matter when you book things, in all honesty? We have our venue and photographer - but thinking maybe I could get a head start on some other things.

Anyone feel have any suggestion of certain things that could be booked ahead of time or maybe that they found they were happier they booked early? Or any thing you wish you would have booked earlier because you have a hard time finding a good match with a vendor?

Curious as to what you brides who are out a while still are doing with your free time Smiley smile

Not COVID relevant, but I had all of my vendors booked between 14-21 months out. Had my venue, caterer, and photographers booked 21 months out (September 2018) and had all the rest of my vendors booked by April/May 2019. I’m a huge proponent of booking early if you’re able to, not only so you are more likely to get your top choice in vendors, but you’re able to often lock in current rates instead of higher rates for next year.

Wow - Thank you so much for your reply. I didn't even think about the whole booking early, to get cheaper rates. I am very much a planner so its killing me to not do anything during all of this free time. I was telling myself to follow my "timeline" so I didn't go overboard on planning right, but you make a good points! Thanks again for sharing!

Same as PP. We got engaged in January of 2019. I had my venue, DJ and photographer booked by end of March last year. Caterer booked by July of 2019. I wanted to make sure I got the vendors I wanted. I also agree lock in the rates now. I'm guessing that rates could potentially go up after this since some vendors are going to need money after this situation is over.

    Hi Sydney,

Congrats on your engagement! I absolutely will encourage you to plan ahead if you can. Like mentioned above, not only can you get a better deal, but you will also be helping small businesses in this time of need. How awesome is that?!

It sounds like you have the right idea but if there are any other questions we can assist with, please don't hesitate to reach out.

    Sending lots of love!
