Covid-19 and Wedding Dress Pick Up

Courtney, on March 31, 2020 at 10:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
Hi all! I was wondering if anyone has had trouble with picking up their gown from either the bridal salon or alteration place with all of this craziness! My alterations are done, but my seamstress wants to push back my date of pickup until the end of May and I’m a June bride! I was wondering if anyone could offer advice because I’m going to lose sleep until I get my dress in my hands again!!

I was asked to postpone pick up, since my date changed from april to July. No pick up date as of yet

David's bridal shipped my dress to me, and as far as I know they'll probably do the same for other brides having this issue. It sucks, but they gotta follow the quarantine for themselves. Just breathe - you'll probably be ok.

Like Kathryn I had my dress altered at David's Bridal and they just shipped it to me. Could you contact your seamstress and ask if she'd be willing to ship it to you instead of have you come in and get it? If not, I'm sure May will be enough time for you because your dress will probably be ready to go when you have your appointment

I totally know what you mean about sleeping better once your dress is with you though. I felt the same way, which is why I decided to have mine shipped (even knowing that some ladies didn't have their alterations done correctly) Fortunately my alterations look like they're done correctly

    Hi Courtney,

This is a stressful time, and I'm sorry to hear that your timeline for wedding dress pick-up has been impacted.

I agree with the previous comments. Could you ask your seamstress to ship it to you? Is she keeping it because she's still working on the alterations or because you have one more fitting? Or some other reason? If it's simply a matter of the cost (and hassle--for those of us with stay-at-home orders in place) to ship it, I wonder if you could make arrangements for her. You could send her a shipping box and/or shipping label to print; you also may be able to arrange for UPS or FedEx to pick up the dress from her house by scheduling it with them.

I'm wishing you better sleep in the near future!
