Covered Bridges Wedding Ceremony

Maura657, on January 4, 2016 at 8:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

I live in RI and just got engaged, and we really want to have our wedding under a covered bridge but its hard to find some with space for guests in our area. Has anyone had this idea before? we plan on August 2017 for the wedding.

Thank you,

Maura

That sounds like a great idea but might be hard to find. You might have to travel to find the right one and might need a small guest list if you want to do it inside. Neat idea though, haven't seen anyone do that yet. Keep us posted!

Thank you, we were looking to do it right in front of the mouth of the covered bridge. But i can't find many that plenty of land in front of them for guests. I saw one in MA but not sure if we can do that with a RI marriage license lol I know silly question. Thank you for the advice on the avatar Smiley winking I will get on that.

I would check Pinterest for covered bridge weddings - you might be able to find some in your area!

How many people? I know I saw a few options in Connecticut when I was looking for a venue. If you were to get married in CT or MA you would need a marriage license from that state, not from RI.

Also just a recommendation, maybe consider a different month. August is usually pretty hot for an outdoor wedding even in the shade.

We are limiting to 150 but now we are thinking a golf country club in a town in RI that is halfway between the states our families live in. I figured towards the end of August would be fine. Plus my sister is in vet school and that month is perfect.

Colt state park has a "stone bridge" with plenty of space for guests adjacent. There seem to be a lot of pretty places to have a wedding there. Slater park also has a nice gazebo area on one of the ponds. Bonus you can take pics at the carousel. Coast guard house in Naragansett has a restaurant in house and is on the water.

Sorry these aren't specifically "covered bridges" but I can't think of any in RI that are what you're looking for.
