Cover-ups for an early April wedding?

Anastasia, on July 24, 2015 at 10:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Our wedding will be right at the beginning of April. This year it was fairly chilly in April, with some days not getting out of the 40's. Historically, the low is 40 and the high is around 62 degrees for my area. My dress is a strapless ballgown and I am beginning to think I will need something to cover up with. However, because it's kind of no longer winter but not quite fully spring, I'm not 100% sure what I should wear. I like the idea of doing some faux fur wrap or using a family heirloom fur that my mother owns...but is that seasonally inappropriate? Also my dress is a bit more modern than I'd anticipated, and I'm not sure what would match. I posted a pic below...any ideas what would match?

They make jackets that are really cute. It only covers your arms and the upper back

I am in the same boat. It could be 70 degrees, or it could snow...I don't know what I am going to do about it...I don't love the look of jackets or wraps...I could theoretically stay inside my venue the whole time, except for the first look...and I'm wondering if I could just suck it up and be cold for it...

What is the off color in your dress? I can't see it very well. Dark Ivory, champagne or gold??

I would be different. I would try to find a cute button up sweater in that off color. Sleeve length whatever you want it, and with a short waist, right at or within an inch of the waistline.

My wedding is in August, but in the mountains in VT it can easily be in the low 60s for a high, or go down to the 40's at night. Or - in the 90's.

I decided to do a lace knit shawl, as a just in case. Etsy has some lovely ones, and you can pick either your wedding colors or the off color in your dress. Plus, its something you can coze up with in the colder weather inside!

Mine is in early april as well. I was planning on wearing a capelet. It's hard to see the embellishment color in your dress is it champagne or silver? I would try to find something that matched with that color.

However I would keep it simple because the top of your dress is gorgeous and I wouldn't want to distract from that

    Anastasia,

Your dress is beautiful! For cover ups you could do a variety of jackets, shawls or wraps. I am including a picture with some options. Although they are in colors you could get any of them in ivory( they are B2/Belsoie by Jasmine Bridals). Let us know if you have any other questions.

    All best,
