has anyone gotten married at a courthouse, thinking about it, or have been to someone elses? If so please share your thoughts and ideas! Thank you so much! We may end up doing this and just using the "wedding" $ for a cruise vacation!

We're doing one to get the legal bits out of the way a few days before the wedding. I was planning on wearing a vintagey pink suit, similar to this one (except with short sleeves). I might top it off with a little birdcage veil.

Cupcake, I'll be courthouse-ready, and also get to indulge my Jackie O obsession. Win-win!

Plenty of people opt for a wedding dress for court house nuptuals. They just do something a little more understated.

Smiley smile Carrie on sex and the city movie has a very nice classy outfit for courthouse wedding too. It is funny because that is what I was planning. Courthouse then have a party at resturant like Carrie did.

Miss cupcake what are you going to wear?!

Ok, so I went to the courthouse and the one in this city is not pretty...its plain...and smells old..."sighs"

ok...so whiile driving to FS parents we decided "for the 100th" time that we know what we want to do.

    1) go to courthouse before May and elope with close family there...courthouse does not care how many people come. (what to wear is STILL to be DETERMINED!)

    2) In May take family on 4 day cruise

    3) On the cruise have a "renewal of vows" which offers the same thing a "wedding" on a cruise offers for 1/2 the price (will wear wedding dress for thisSmiley smile )

    4) In August take 7 day cruise with husbandSmiley smile

SOund good for now...lol the day still is not over and my mind is creative so it will change im sure...

My wedding dress has a small train and it has lace covered back with old fashioned buttons, it is like way too formal for the courthouse lol. But my best friend said that she had friends who wore wedding dresses to courthouse weddings, so you won;t be only one. Hate to say that I won't be joining ya because I have found a beautiful chapel today for 25 to 30 guests instead go to courthouse. BUT renewal of vows sound really nice on cruise, also romantic Smiley smile

I was married at the registrar's office in England. At first we were in this dingy type office taking care of the paperwork and I thought the ceremony was going to be there. Then the officiant led us to the ceremony room and it was lovely which made me feel much, much better. I don't regret it at all. It still is your wedding day and you are marrying the man you love.

I'm going to courthouse in May! Our room will hold around 15 ppl. I am just happy to be married to my FH. Then for our 1 year anniversary we will do a vow renewal at the hall with all the trimmings! Oh yeah, I'm wearing a nice white cocktail length dress for the courthouse and another gown for my vow renewal!

So Meagan , your ideas sound great, do the courthouse and then the cruises!

My first wedding was at the courthouse. It was nothing fancy, simple, and convient since he was living in Washington State and I was in Wyoming. We had to be married before I could get my assignment to Washington from Wyoming.

Anyone get married at a courthouse in FLorida?!?

Im thinking to do what I listed above...The renewal of vows will take place no later than 3 weeks after we get married at courthouse...now im trying to decide what to do to celebrate with family after courthouse...like dinner or a cake?!?! But that is cutting into the budget...because if i take family out to dinner with us then we will have to pay right? and there will be at least 20 people for that...

Meagan, I officiate weddings on the beach, on boats, in parks, gardens, backyards, restaurants, museums, and resorts.

On 10/10, I married a couple on the beach and they then went to Tampa to get on a cruise ship.

Instead of taking 20 people to a restaurant, you could do a cookout on the beach or in a park.

Nancy T- the weddings you did on the beaches here in florida...how much did they cost the couple...not just for the officiate..the whole thing.

How much do you charge to do a beach wedding? how long does it last?

Well, we are going to dinner afterwards, but our family is paying for themselves as a "little gift to us"! We are however paying for the cake ! I
