I think it’s highly dependent on your country, court and judge. My first wedding was in a court... judges chambers. I was in jeans and it wasn’t particularly special or romantic. It was very businesslike and efficient.

I think it’s what you make of it. Wear a great dress, get your hair and make up done and buy a bouquet. Hire a photographer and make plans for dinner in a private booth or room at a fancy restaurant. Depending on where you’re at, take a horse and buggy ride or hire a special car to drive you around. Make the day/night special!!

All this! You are just as married with this type of wedding as a $40,000 affair. Who needs the stress?

We were originally planning a church office wedding which is similar to a courthouse wedding only solemnized in the church. Now we're doing an "in-between" thing. To make our day special we're dressing up, hired a photographer, and have small wearable flowers/ bouquets for our special people. We then planned a restaurant reception for our guests. If we had kept our guest list under 20 we would have just taken everyone out to eat after with just a reservation.

My sister also did a church office wedding (with about 7 guests). She wore the prettiest pink ball gown, we all got dressed up for her ceremony. I took formal posed pictures for her on my "nice" camera. We went out to dinner with her and her new husband. It was just a nice, sweet day.

It's your day, have fun with it!
