The first picture is from our elopement and the second from our destination wedding.

Hi Jenna, I originally wanted a courthouse wedding, and my husband wanted a big reception. We were originally planning doing just that - a courthouse/reception wedding. However, we had to go with a wedding chapel (essentially a vegas-style wedding) because he wanted to have more people there.... but very similar to what you're suggesting.

Because of logistics, we decided to make a weekend out of it though. We had the ceremony on a Friday with formal pictures then. Our reception was the next day.

Totally fine if you just want the ceremony to be more private. If you’re doing this as a way to save money though don’t expect for it to save that much.

That's the ideal, in my mind. I feel like the ceremony needs to be about just you and your partners, and your vows to each other. I don't want to be worrying about timing for walking down the aisle with the music, or smiling at he guests, or getting my picture taken by family leading up to such an intimate moment.

This is what my FH wanted to do initially because he thought it would save us money. When I showed him the cost of the ceremony was going to be minimal since we are using the same venue for both ceremony and reception he changed his mind. There’s no problem with doing this if it’s what you want to do, you absolutely don’t have to have a big ceremony just to have a big reception. Do what’s right for you and your fiancé. Good luck!

That's a great idea. When my FFIL got remarried a couple of months ago we were their witnesses at the courthouse. That weekend my FFIL and FMIL had a big BBQ for all of their kids and grandkids, such a fun time for everyone.

I think there is nothing wrong with that at all. I do think many people would rather just go to the party.

Why do you want to get married at the courthouse and throw a big reception?

Hahhaha we love "Hollywood kisses". Thank you iva. Finding a hairstyle for my natural hair was a journey but I'm glad with what I came up with.

That is exactly what my husband and I did and my courthouse wedding was absolutely perfect I can't imagine it any other way! Our reception party is this weekend! All I wanted was to marry my best friend we saved a ton of money because the courthouse was free you only need to pay for the license which you have to do no matter what!
