Courthouse Wedding

Amanda, on November 18, 2019 at 5:21 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5

My fiance and I have decided to get married at the courthouse. The courthouse where we live has a couple beautiful locations that they do the ceremonies. My questions are for anyone that has done a courthouse wedding did you hire a photographer, get a bouquet and the whole nine? Also what did you wear? I can't pick a dress and looking for inspiration. Thanks!

We didn't go that way, but last December my now stepson & daughter-in-law did. That didn't do a bouquet, but only because she didn't want one. She wore a beautiful dress, it wasn't a wedding gown, but it was a long white formal dress. STUNNING her daughter wore an equally pretty one, and her son wore a suit that matched his new stepdad's. Their baby together was all cute and dressed up too. They didn't hire a photographer, but they had one who was a friend and did it as a gift to them. There were about 18 of us there and after we went to eat at a steakhouse.

Regardless of the location do what ya want Smiley smile. If you have always wanted a dress and bouquet go for it. I have seen some real nice courthouse weddings. Check these out for inspiration. I say splurge on the photographer. I am eloping, just us two, but I am having my dress, a cascading bouquet and photography. If I could I would do a huge wedding but this is the compromise with my FH and I still always wanted those things for sure so I am going to have them. We agree pictures would be nice to look back on.

We did what I call an “in between” wedding. Our marriage mentors objected to a courthouse wedding and offered to do a church office wedding instead for us (same concept just religious instead of secular). We hired a photographer, had a few guests, dressed up, and had flowers. It’s your wedding do what you want!

Hey Amanda!! The pp’s are right, you can absolutely do exactly what you want for your wedding. I definitely think that a photographer would be a great idea. You will be able to look back at your photos for years to come and have such wonderful memories.

What style of dress have you been thinking about? Would you like a formal gown, or something a little more casual but still bridal? Are you happy to wear a dress, or would you feel more comfortable with something like a jumpsuit? There are no rules so you can wear whatever makes you happy! ASOS and Lulus are great places to look for dresses that aren’t traditional, formal wedding gowns but still look beautiful.

I agree with PP! Its your big day! just because its not a huge venue and tons of guests doesn't mean you can't go all out! Get the photographer, buy a beautiful dress. Etsy has great options for fake flowers if you want. or talk to a local florist and see what they can do for you Smiley smile It will be perfect whatever you choose!
