Courthouse Wedding

Bridget, on March 18, 2021 at 5:24 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 5
My fiancé and I have decided due to the COVID pandemic and unsure future obstacles, we are going to have a courthouse wedding. We are thinking of having a family dinner at a local banquet hall. Possibly down the line, with money saved up and reasonable circumstances, we would still like to have a big ceremony. Maybe a year anniversary? We are settling for eloping, but it doesn’t matter the time or place. We just want to be married already. 🖤

    Congrats and welcome!

There are a lot of discussions about courthouse weddings in the "Planning" section of the forums, feel free to check them out.

Banquet halls are always going to be expensive, small party or big. Your best bet is to use the cost calculator, under "Planning Tools", also above, to help you get an idea for the average costs in your area. Then start searching for venues. Even a small dinner party needs a bit of planning.

    Good luck!

Go for it Bridget!! I have several friends who haven't wanted to wait any longer and have gone ahead with small family weddings now - and will eventually have a big party later! You can postpone the party, but you don't need to postpone your marriage. Smiley ring

You could do a big 1 year anniversary party, or just throw a belated "celebration of marriage" once it's safe to have big celebrations again!

I'd start reaching out to local courthouses and see what their availability is so you can start planning. ❤️

It seems that I have to go to the County Courthouse! It’s not too bad since my fiancé and I work in that town anyways.
