Costa Rica or New Zealand Honeymoon?!?!

Future Mrs. Schopf, on June 17, 2015 at 5:26 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 10

My fiance and I are debating between Costa Rica or South New Zealand for our honeymoon. We're getting married this September but don't plan on honeymooning until Spring 2016. We both really enjoy adventurous activities and I think both locations would be perfect but we just can't pick which one to go to for our honeymoon. We want this vacation to be special like no other vacation and we are okay with spending some money for special adventures/hotels. Things we're looking for in a vacation: adventure, romance, once in a lifetime experiences, cool hotels. What do you guys recommend?

New Zealand. Backpack the Lord of the Rings trail. Unless you're not that nerdy but definitely go to New Zealand.

I vote New Zealand. Not sure why. But if I was given the choice to go to one, I would choose NZ.

Uh New Zealand!!! But I'm bias!

Best thing to do would be to hire a campervan (like an RV but smaller) and travel the length of the country. New Zealand scenery is SO diverse over such a small area. Surf beaches, rugged cliffs, tropical rainforest, lakes, rivers, mountains, mud pools, desert plains all rolled into one.

I could go on forever! We did the RV thing for our own honeymoon. Even though I am from there it was still awesome and unforgettable. And if you are after adventure, Queenstown is often known as the adventure capital of the world. We did a 450ft bungey jump there as a wedding present lol... heres a photo! Let me know if you want to know anything else Smiley smile

I'm partial to Costra Rica. I love the latin culture. On the other hand, New Zealand would be amazing. I would go to the place that I would least likely to be able to visit in the future.

New Zealand! It's an amazing country and for most North Americans, probably more of a once in a life time trip because of how far away it is. If you go there, go up to the very northern most point of the north island. You can literally see the line where two oceans meet. It's pretty incredible.

I think New Zealand is full of adventure. While I was backpacking there, we rented a camper van, drove from Auckland through Rotorua and beyond on the North Island. We sky dived, bungee jumped, white water rafted, zorbed, mountain biked, etc. It was great...but its a backpacking country. I'm sure there are a lot of lovely high end resorts, but my experience was that of a very dirty backpacking hippie.

I think Costa Rica would be a lot more suitable for a honeymoon myself.

Thank you all for your input. FH and I decided on New Zealand. We live in Los Angeles, so we think we can still do Costa Rica at some point. New Zealand, who knows when we would ever be able to make it over there. Thank you all again! Anyone have any suggestions for New Zealand?
