Cost of invitations

I have no idea how much to budget for invitations! How much did you spend on yours and how many guests did you send them to? Also is it worth it to spend the extra on postage for RSVP cards or should I just have them do it online?? Thanks!!

Spent exactly $106.54 and the bulk of the cost is the stamps. Just remember stamps cost a lot. Good luck!

I haven't ordered anything yet, but these are all great ideas (especially DIY)! My friend told me about Amazon's new printing service too, which is SUPER cost effective especially if you're a Prime member (free delivery!!). I'm going to try ordering a sample or something.

For those who went the DIY route, did you like the way they turned out??

Our invitations were $565 for 125 invites. That includes the invitations, enclosure cards, rsvps with envelopes and then the outer envelope. We got the outer envelopes pre-addressed and our RSVP envelopes were pre-addressed as well. That price isn't including postage though. I'm taking the invites to the post office before I put them all together with my girls to make sure they aren't too heavy.

I went out of my way to attempt to spend the least but still ended up spending $835 total. Postage was my biggest budget eater ($180). Here's my breakdown: STDs and personalized envelope sticker steals (Vistaprint, 20% off, 120) $150, invitations and RSVP cards (WPD 40% off anniversary sale) $240 (120 each), rehearsal dinner invitation card (Vistaprint, 50% off) $40 (100), morning-after brunch invitation card (Vistaprint, 50% off) $35 (80), colored envelopes for wedding invitations and RSVP cards (I didn't like the plain white envelopes they came with; Amazon, 250) $150, stuff to make my own belly bands (because premade ones were horrendously expensive) $25, and wax seal supplies (eBay) $15.

I think everyone has given good recommendations, so I will give you a little tip. It seems like you won't need your invites right away, so I would suggest that you order your invites on Black Friday. That's when you'll be able to get the best sales for any of the online sites PP have suggested. I think places like wedding paper divas and minted were around 50% off. Vistaprint last year was either 60% or 70% off.

I've been pricing out invites for budgeting purposes but my wedding isn't until next November. Does anyone know if there's any other major sales other than Black Friday/ Cyber Monday? I'm hoping for at least 40% off on Vistaprint. Although I haven't looked at Wedding Paper Divas yet, I just got some samples in the mail.

Mine were from vista-print when they had their half off sale. I paid $53 for 50 invites and 50 rsvp cards.
