Cost of invitations

nolegirl, on August 7, 2017 at 8:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 50

I have no idea how much to budget for invitations! How much did you spend on yours and how many guests did you send them to? Also is it worth it to spend the extra on postage for RSVP cards or should I just have them do it online?? Thanks!!

Invitations can cost a lot of money if you don't get them on their sale day. the cheapest I was able to find was vistaprint. they are very expensive, its pathetic. it also depends on how many you need and what you include in them. you need invitations, reception cards, rsvp cards, inner envelopes, outer envelopes, just bunch of stuff that adds up. I was not happy about it. to be honest, this was the most stressful part of planning so far. I couldn't come to terms with how expensive the ones I loved were, then I just went for OK looking ones and called it a day.

Depends on if you have the time to diy or want to order them premade. I DIYed and it cost about $200 for 170 invitations. I only sent rspv envelopes with stamps to my non internet savvy guests, which did increase postage. I was very careful with my other invites who had a small card with instructions on online rsvp to keep the envelope under the 0.70 stamp option.

Really depends on what you want. Invites weren't high priority for us so we used a kit from JoAnn Fabrics (with a 50% off coupon) so for 50 invites it was $12. We printed at home however there were no graphics or photos to print so it didn't use much ink.

I ended up spending about $220 for 105 invitations. And that was with a 40% off sale.

In comparison to the others, we went invitation overboard. 260 guests invited. Needed 160, 50 of those included rehearsal dinner response and information. I found a paper lady that makes gorgeous invites. We had a pocketfold with belly band. Total was about $2300. I was going for a certain look.

Mine were probably around $400 including postage, I worked with a woman on etsy who does beautiful art nouveau work. That was for 75 invitations, and it covered the invitation, RSVP cards, and two sets of envelopes -- we didn't end up doing any other inserts.

I don't have an artistic bone in my body so I didn't want to attempt to DIY mine, although that seems like the cheapest route.

I purchased a PDF file from Etsy (the seller designed them and emailed me the PDF) and I took the file to OfficeMax and had them printed. Overall, I spent $95 for 100 invitations and RSVP cards.

I completely designed, custom-die cut and made the belly bands for my invitations and they still cost me around $400 when everything was said and done. This included the printing (and cutting of course) of the invite plus 4 inserts x 60, pocket envelopes, RSVP envelopes, outer envelopes, RSVP stamps, custom postage stamps for the invite, and invitation mats.

Invites get very expensive, even more so if you're hiring a professional designer to design you something unique and custom tailored to your wedding.

But it's worth it, in my opinion. My guests have non-stopped talked about my STD's (sent a year ago) and now my invites!

I ordered more than what I needed. So I spent $505. Plus $50 on stamps.

I spent $260 on 60 invites. I only bought invitations, envelopes, and return labels. We did online RSVPs so that saved some money. And just one envelope. No reception card. Everything is all at one venue. I did mine through shutterfly.

I used Vistaprint. We're sending out them out to about 85-90 families and I'm having them RSVP on my Wedding Wire website, so no RSVP card. They were about $90 and that's with postage.

Keep in mind- this wasn't a huge priority to me, so I didn't put a lot of money into it. They look nice and people will arrive in the right place and that was my only concern. After the wedding, people will just be throwing them away. Figure out what your biggest priorities are and put your money there.

We definitely waited for a sale. We also paid to have the addresses printed on the envelopes, and OUR address printed on the RVSP envelope. (That was probably $100 for all the envelopes).

Total we paid about $500 for 80 invites

Depends on how many. For our STDs and invitations, we spent about $300 for 80 people. We ordered through Wedding Paper Divas

My FH and I made our invites ourselves. For the cardstock, wax seal materials, and envelopes, it was about $250 for 160 invites (a bit over 300 people total).

We used Vistaprint as well. Ended up spending about $150 for 120 invitations with additional rsvp cards with envelopes. That's not including stamps and that is when Vistaprint had a 50% site wide sale. I wouldn't buy any of their products unless if a sale was going on, it adds up so fast.

We spent about $900 for ours, but that included having the addresses printed on the envelopes and return envelopes for 150 invitations. We had a $150 credit. This also includes two sets of response cards and reception cards (150 of one town, 75 of the other).

I got mine from Vistaprint. We ordered during their Black Friday sale (50% off) and saved so much we were able to upgrade to their nicest paper, the linen finish, and upgrade to have our address pre-printed on the RSVP envelopes. I highly recommend choosing invitations that do not need additional postage. I am not a fan of online RSVPs and we chose traditional RSVP cards. We spent $200 on invitations but I actually ordered wayyyy too many -- I stupidly ordered 1 pp (so 150) instead of 1 per family/couple! haha. I recommend ordering a few extra but obviously not that many extra haha. Regular postage cost another $80 if I remember correctly.

Bought 150 boxed invitations through an Etsy vendor no longer in business. Cost around $9.00 each, 4.5 years ago. 50 mailing envelopes were $1 each. Postage $2.24 each (square boxes). We handed out 100 ourselves, because we/our parents see the majority of our guests, on a monthly basis.

Requested online responses, to reduce waste, not the budget. We heard from all but one couple 10 days before the RSVPs were due. Success!

We bought a 12$ template from Etsy, filled it in, bought cardstock from Jo-Ann's on sale, took the flash drive and paper to Kinko's and let then so the rest. We made the rsvp card into a postcard because the stamps are cheaper that way. We spent 94$ on 50 invites, 50 envelopes, 50 "information cards" that we turn into "recipe cards" for guest to fill out and bring for our guest book, 50 rsvp cards, and 50 thank you cards, all with postage.
