Corset vs Zipper

I am thinking about changing my zippered dress to a corset because the corset dresses I tried gave my shape some definition. However, corset is not forgiving to back fat IMO. What is your preference and why?

I prefer zippers. They give a dress a cleaner look in my opinion.

I love that my dress is corset. The zippered gowns I tried on just didn't highlight my waist the way my corset dress does. I do have a bit of an hour glass figure, so I wanted that emphasized. My dress is a size 16 but I don't seem to carry a lot of fat in my back.

BUTTONS!!!! With a zipper at the bottom with buttons to cover it up. I was always obsessed with buttons.

I like my zipper with the pretty, fake buttons. I didn't care for the look of the laces on me. I think it's nice on others, but the buttons are more my style.

I have a lace up back, but I bought my dress in Puerto Rico, where I am from. I will have only one dress fitting!

The corset back saved the day. I will most likely only have to alter length.

I would have preferred a zipper rather than my corset. Zipper seems over all easier to deal with and what not.

I have a corset back dress and I love it!! The inner piece of mine has to be move a tad over but I absolutely love it and FH has a thing for corsets so that was a plus. Here's a picture of mine

I'm for Buttons/ Zipper all the way! I'm just not a fan of the corset and you can always do some shapewear!

I personally love corset types because I like the imagery of it and I'm tired of seeing buttons that aren't functional (hidden zipper).

Luckily I already know I lose back fat really easily so I'm not too concerns about that esp. when the dress will be properly fitted.

Mine is a zipper with a built in hidden corset. I don't have to wear any undergarments that way and it fits perfectly!

I don't really like the look of corset backs and none of the dresses I was drawn to on pinterest had a corset back. When I went to try on dresses the consultants never asked me which I preferred but I think I only tried one on. The zipper on mine gives the illusion of buttons and I think its such a pretty detail!

Mine normally has a corset. However I prefer a zipper so I'm paying $50 for the zipper to be put in. Nothing against corsets I just like zippers better

No offense to any of the beautiful brides with corsets but For some reason I hate corset dresses. I refused to try any in. It was a total deal breaker for me.

Mine is a zipper with gorgeous buttons over it.

ETA: this sample was too small for me hence the back fat bulging over

Personally I think corsets look cheap on wedding gowns. I think they belong more on lingerie.

If I did not find the dress I did and that it fit like it does I was going to put a corset back into what ever dress so it could fit properly and my weight could fluctuate a little without worry. Someone's just the cut off the dress and style can drastically change how it looks.
