Coronavirus/postponed Wedding

Man what a roller coaster these past two weeks have been. My wedding was scheduled for May 2 but I made the decision yesterday to go ahead and postpone it until next year. I’ve been planning for over 15 months sent out my invitations which I made by hand it took me two months to get them done. Everything that I’ve done is DIY I’m devastated but it’s out of my control. Today I contacted two of my vendors to inform them of the change and possible cancellation neither one of them would give me the full amount. I called my venue and when they thought that they had me on hold I overheard their whole conversation as they badmouthed me and said that I kept bugging them and after that happened I told them that I heard it all and I pretty much decided they do not deserve my business so I asked for my mom back but they stayed with my $1,000 deposit 😭 😢 is anyone else going through all of the vendor rescheduling/canceling drama? It’s a nightmare!! I feel as if we should be getting some type of relief when it comes to deposits it is not our fault the world is in a state of emergency. Just had to vent because I’m beyond devastated. Stay safe and healthy!

I think you could probably take legal action for your deposits when things calm down! I’m so sorry that people have been so ugly about it. My date is in September, we’ve decided that we’ll get married with a JP and then celebrate when it’s safe to do so if this pandemic is still out of control by then. We all want the special days that we have been planning but I’d rather have a healthy future with my husband and family than 1 day that could prove fatal for some.
Stay safe and keep your chin up! We can all band together and get our deposits back when things settle!

We are trying to make the decision on to hope this all blows over for our May 1st wedding or to cancel. I'm contacting my venue and caterer for specifics for each option. My caterer has been very helpful during this time but my venue keeps brushing me off. I'm losing my mind over this decision but we think we will have to cancel. A family member owns a bakery and she told us to ask for the extra money we've paid back but for them to keep the amounts that we owe up to this time per our contracts. She said that was if they give you a problem or they go out of business we may not lose all the money. We have paid off the venue and caterer at this point too. We figured it still ensures we have the date and vendors if we can still have it but we wont lose everything if we need to cancel. Best of luck to you!
