Control freak having an uncontrollable Destination wedding!

Naikesha, on May 30, 2019 at 7:24 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 7
Hello all yes I can admit I’m the controlling one in the relationship not overly crazy but like structure. I’m planning my wedding in JA so from NY I’m pretty far away. It is very hard for me to know ideally I’m not in control of anything. Not how fast/often the hotel responds, to how the day of will go if my bridal parties flights will be on time, or a plan b for make up/hair as they are coming from the states as well. It’s extremely hard but I must say I’m learning how to handle it and a lot about myself has anyone else had this issue and or learned any life lessons from wedding planning?

I'm a Capricorn so I thrive in structure and love being in control and knowing what's going to happen. I'm also having a destination wedding in Jamaica and it has been quite nerve wracking to not be able to micromanage my wedding but its teaching me patience whether I like it or not...lol

    Hey Naikesha!

It really sounds like you are doing the best you can from where you are! No one can totally be in control when planning their wedding because there are so many different people and events involved. All you can do is hope for the best outcome and plan for things going wrong where you can. There is no way you would be able to control your BM's flight times, so let that one go!Smiley laugh

You are doing amazingly so far!! It's easy to get caught up in the things that aren't working out but it's important to remember all that you have achieved so far!!

I'm going through the same thing, but with our 10 year anniversary vow renewal. I think there is one thing I learned 1st time around planning a wedding in town... there will ALWAYS be something that goes wrong or is left out. Give yourself a break and remind yourself that no matter what goes wrong, no one will notice but you, so don't stress yourself out too badly. You want to be able to enjoy the day, the little moments... Take a deep breath if you feel overwhelmed (and maybe a sip or two of champagne!)

Thank you Sinead for the encouraging words! Self evaluations are important even as an adult I'm still learning patience and that it's OK to live in the moment. I'm not cured overnight but I'm also not naive to the fact that the wedding although I want it ti be perfect is 1 day and my marriage to my awesome FH is forever.
