Communication with my Venue

Allison, on October 26, 2019 at 9:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Hi All!

I've never used the discussion aspect of this site so hopefully I'm doing it right and following all the rules. I'm about 6 1/2 months out from wedding day. I'm actually not a bride who enjoys planning. I'm really go with the flow/indecisive and though I'm organized, I get overwhelmed easily so the weeks are flying by and not much planning is getting done. I realize from Facebook and discussion threads like this that lots of brides are in constant communication with their venue. We booked ours back in April and got a copy of our contract. Other than that, we haven't talked to them since. I know it's my job to reach out obviously, but I don't even know what I should be communicating with them about. This may be a dumb question, but do I need to be in constant contact with my venue? What should we be communicating about?

We do have a month of coordinator who doesn't start helping us until then. (She is separate from the venue) Our venue includes an all day rental of the space, tables, chairs, and linens.

You absolutely do not need to be in constant contact with your venue. We booked our venue 2 years out and have only reached out a couple if times regarding permission about other vendors we were wanting to bring on property (beer burro, cigar bar). I don’t anticipate talking with them much more until we get closer to the day, but then will probably have my coordinator spearpoint the necessary conversations.

That really depends on your venue and your needs, my venue is all inclusive so I need to be in constant communication for different things, color of linens, food tasting, permits, cake, etc but if it just included the place itself I’m sure I wouldn’t need to communicate as much. It doesn’t have to be the same for everyone

Our venue includes almost everything but I only reach out to the coordinator there when I have questions about something. However, a few days ago I had reached out to him to ask him if I should be sending any information or final decisions on anything and he suggested a conference call to go over my checklist to make see if we needed to update anything. You could always reach out to them and ask the same thing. Make sure you know when to update them on things and when you should get ahold of them next
