Combining two themes...?

Jules , on January 17, 2013 at 1:07 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

My FH is pretty into media & works at a local tv staton. During planning ideas for the theme of the wedding (which we'd initially decided on sunflowers/semi rustic- he's a nature type), he mentions that he wants to add some media themes into it all (he Just thought of this today). Like adding a movie clapper board, film strip designs, etc. I'd like to incorporate that but with the sunflowers, I don't know how that'd work... At all. I was debating making the gift/guest book table decorated with his movie type theme and the rest with the sunflowers with black accents (movie clapper boards are usually black), but idk if that'd look really weird or not. Wish he'd thought of this sooner. Wish I'd even thought of it sooner. Now idk what to do. Help!!

Have you considered having a photo booth or fun props for photos at the reception? Maybe you could use the media style props for the photos?

I have but they're Sooooo expensive here because its still pretty new to ppl in our area. Most of the photo booths were $300+ an hr with a 2-3 hr minimum. :/ I'm a photographer too so it works for us both but idk how to incorporate all that.

What about adding it into little details such as the cake topper, table numbers, favors.

This is how I am involving my horseiness into the wedding. Smiley smile Adding some pics I found on google.

Hmmm. So a little of both to even it out maybe? I found those movie clapper card holders at a local bridal supply store & bought one for my FH and he Loves it! Very cute idea for the tables. Is black as a BM dress color too bleak??

I think it really depends on the time of day and over all feeling for your wedding. I know several people who have had their BM's wear black dresses. You could also brighten it up with contrasting flowers, belt, etc.

It could definitely work! I know I've seen pictures of weddings with black and yellow as their colors, so you could do that. You could have sunflowers for all the flowers, have film, clapper boards, etc. in the places mentioned already, and then combine the two for your centerpieces. I think it would look nice.

Let him make a really good slideshow type movie to play while your guests are getting seated.

Use photos as part of your table number.

Let him make the guest book.

Or if coctail hr is in another room do that room his theme the dinner room your theme

Could your rehearsal dinner be media themed?

I'm trying to combine Paris (eiffel tower) and music. Not easy and I'm about to give up =)

I don't think black BM dresses are bad at all. You just have to go about it the right way.

    Hello!
I am having the same dilemma. Halfway through planning, I was trying to buy shoes for my dress. Upon my search I found awesome knee-high punk/steampunk boots. With that in mind, I thought it would be awesome if we added steampunk into the wedding but then I thought, our wedding rings are Irish Claddaghs. So now we are trying to figure out how to incorporate the two. Our wedding is in a month. And I'm not sure how.
