College mascot at reception?

So almost all of the guests at the wedding are Buckeyes and the wedding is on OSU campus... but it might be obnoxious to have Brutus Buckeye show up to the reception briefly (he'll be wearing a tux). My parents really want to do it and think it might be cute for Brutus to get people dancing after...

FH and I went to the same school and I don't think we would have our mascot. It was Sam the Minuteman. I feel like having a minuteman at the wedding is asking for some sort of wedding night sex jokes lol but hey, you know your crowd. If I was a guest I would probably think it was cute!

It sounds pretty Frat Party to me. You would have to know your crowd, but it would be a no for me.

I didn't do a mascot but DH and I went to the same college and met there. On our wedding day our college beat our biggest rival. We took a couple pictures with our jerseys and our wedding clothes Smiley smile

This is a know your crowd thing. I think since you're in the campus it would be cute Smiley smile and as other said, keep it to like a quick 15-30 min thing.

I went to a PAC 12 school, I would totally do this if I had the opportunity.

I don't find this completely ridiculous. It's not like he'll be there the entire night. I'm trying to imagine my reaction as a guest if Albert Gator showed up and I honestly don't think I'd find it weird, especially if the bride and groom were die-hard fans. But definitely depends on your crowd.

I would love that but I'm also an Ohio nerd. It would also make my papa and dad's life.

As a fellow Buckeye, I would love this! But it's definitely a "know your crowd" type of thing.

I know quite a few people who've done this and it's always been a huge hit. It's definitely a know your crowd kinda thing. I was in a D1 marching band so tons of my friends are as insanely passionate about our team as I am. FH went to a different school so we're not having anything at the wedding, although I think the rehearsal dinner might have a college sports theme (FMIL is planning and it's what she did for FBIL and FSIL when they got married- also huge college football fans)

FH and I seriously love our mascot, but I wouldn't want him at our wedding. It just wouldn't fit the vibe that I want. FH would probably love it though haha

My FH and I went to the same high school and college for our undergrads, he is now a university administrator at a D1 school and could totally see him doing this if we were getting married on campus.

This is a know your crowd type thing. Could get some playful memories and pictures out of it.

I think no mascot is needed.

Years ago, we had a bride (GameCox) have her college mascot come and she said it was a hit - her crowd was die-hard SC fans.

If I could've gotten Mike the Tiger to mine, I totally would have done it.

You know your crowd. Football is mega important in the SEC, so it would work here.

I saw photos of a friend's wedding who had their alumni mascot show up. It looked like everyone was having a great time but it also looked like it was way later in the night, not right after dinner. I'd personally not want to do it but I've been out of school for years and it would be weird. This is definitely not something that your parents should convince you on, if you aren't feeling it, don't do it.

My sister and I are both UNC-CH grads and literally all of our family members (minus H and BIL...they're Duke fans) are all UNC fans and this would be a vote for no from me if this were my wedding. I wouldn't call it obnoxious but it just feels kind of out of place to me.

I think it would be so fun and great for photos as long as most of your guests also went to the same school - if they didn't, then it would be weird. This could completely be done in a classy way. Plus, weddings are supposed to be fun.
