Coffee Mug Wedding Favors

Katie, on February 24, 2019 at 8:44 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19

What are y'all's thoughts on coffee mug wedding favors? My fiance and I both love coffee and are thinking of coffee mugs for the favors. We aren't having a huge wedding-only family, ~40 people-so the cost isn't a huge concern. We feel it would be sentimental since it is only family coming but I've read blogs that suggest anything with our monogram/wedding date is unusable to them.

Most people don't enjoy items with someone else's name and/or wedding date all over them. I think coffee mugs are a great favor, but maybe you could find another way to decorate it that is less personal to the two of you and more of just a wedding theme?

I think a coffee mug with your wedding date is cute. I think people have a problem with things with your wedding date when it something they wear or carry around. Coffee mugs I feel are fun when they are cutesy.

If someone gave out coffee mugs as a favor I would love it no matter what it said, that's such a practical gift to bring home!
If you're concerned about it maybe only put a cute little message on it and have an insert or tag that has your names and date?

While a practical gift, even family I wouldn't take a mug with someone else's wedding date on it. That date means nothing to me.

I like all of these ideas! We will probably do something small on the cup and put them in a box with a "thank you for celebrating our day" tag.

Who wouldn’t want another mug? I love getting mugs from friends and family who travel and bring one back home because it’s so practical. I think it can have your date with a cute saying or pretty design on it. I would use it!

I've been thinking of the wedding favors we have gotten from our friends' weddings (usually koozies, keychains, or picture frames) and we hardly use them. Maybe a coffee mug that can be used as someone's pen cup isn't so bad. Ha.

We are “mug club” members at a bar with all of our friends so we have definitely considered creating a logo and making our own “beer mugs” to incorporate into a wedding..... they might not fit my boho garden lush ascetic but they are the one thing my finance has been super excited about and that makes it worth it

Is there a symbol or fun expression you could put on them that would remind guests the mug is from your wedding but not in an obvious? A pair of double hearts? The word “love” on it? “A whole latte love” quote or a quote about love that you might include somewhere in your wedding?

That's a good idea, too. We could do a quote or a "W" on for our marries name. Most of the family has a last name beginning with a W anyway and for those without a last name starting with W, it would be something simple.

We did this! We had a 100 guest brunch wedding so it was on theme. We opted for diner mugs/my husband really pushed for them since they're his favorite and the style of mug came from the region of where he grew up/where our wedding was.

We got ours done at Anypromo.com and had a graphic I made to be put on them, a disco ball egg. Our wedding had some elements that we used throughout the save the dates, invitations, welcome bag check lists, so it seemed fitting. It also had our date small so it wasn’t obnoxious.

Till this day we are still getting photos and messages of people using our mugs, saying it is now their go-to mug.

There are many sites that print on regular shaped coffee mugs but diner mugs are for whatever reason pricier since there's a slope in the design I suppose. For 100 mugs they were about $5.14 each. I ordered them in advance, some were damaged in the shipment, and they replaced them no problem.

I also hand wrote tags that were stringed onto each mug.

I personally am particular with my mugs, I only like stoneware/ceramic handmade looking mugs, but these are an exception. There were a handful that were left and many people took extras. I've been to weddings were nobody takes any favors, (succulents, chocolates, donuts), so I suppose if you don't mind the extras if people don't take them, there's no issue!

As guests we have had many jars of homemade jam, custom champagne flutes, etc. Things that are overly obnoxious with your date nobody cares. They'll remember where it came from if there's just a little nod or even without!

    Cheers—

I love this idea! Don't get it engraved though. Just the sentiment (see photos). What you can do is order gift tags and wrap the coffee mug with cellophane, add the gift tag with the details (you can order business card type ones, add your photo, name, date and thank you message) and if you wish, add chocolate or cookie coffee stirrers. I love the idea of putting them in cellophane! 😍 After deciding the design, my next delimma was going to be how to wrap them! So much cuter than a box!

Is your wedding in an interesting area or somewhat destination for guests? Maybe you could do a mug featuring something local that will remind them of your wedding? For example, a NYC wedding with some type of NY theme mug?
