Cleanup crew

Nicole, on January 8, 2017 at 12:02 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

Our venue has to be cleaned up after the reception in order to not face a damage fee. I don't want to stick around after my wedding because I have a boat to Freeport to catch! Is it acceptable to ask my wedding party to do the light cleaning (make sure trash is cleared and tables are empty) or should we hire someone to do this part?

You want to leave after a long day, don't you think your BP will too?? Hire someone.

Absolutely not. They are your nearest and dearest, not your employees. Hire someone.

No, it is not acceptable to ask people to be your slaves - especially since you don't want to do it - why would they want to do it??

    Yes, you hire someone.

I think it is. My best friend got married last summer and I, as maid of honor, helped make sure everything was getting cleaned so she could relax. I'm sure not everyone will feel like that. Just depends on what kind of person you are. Good luck!

No. Your bridal party needs to buy the required dress and stand beside you; they don't need to purchase cleaning supplies on top of that.

Hire someone. Ask your venue if they have any recommendations, or try the vendor tab.

Definitely hire someone. Your wedding party will be exhausted and ready to go home if they haven't left already. They are not your slaves or hired help.

I had to clean up after my sisters wedding. It took the bridal party of 10 and our dates 3 hours to finish up and then we had a 2 hour drive home. I didn't get to go to sleep until almost 3am.

    HIRE SOMEBODY!

Don't listen to Kiersten. Though she may not have been bothered by it, 99.9% of people will be. Your bridal party will be tired (like you) and if you've hosted properly, they're also likely to be tipsy, if not drunk. No one wants to hang around and clean up. Hire someone.

Windows chick said what I was thinking!!! I'm paying $500 for my day of coordinator and she is bringing in 2-3 people to help with clean up so my guest can follow us to the after party.

Hire someone. Your wedding party are not your glitter covered slaves. Their only job is to show up in the dress mostly sober. Not clean up after your several thousand dollar party.

I would drop out of the bridal party if it involved manual labor. I'm too old for that shit.

I would hire someone. Your bridal party and family will be exhausted and that's a lot to ask of them!

    Isn't your caterer cleaning up??

Don't ask your BP (who have already spent tons of time and money on you) to clean up after your party.

    Hire someone.
