Cinderella dress on beach???

Samantha , on August 8, 2013 at 8:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

My FH and I discussed having a beach wedding in Florida, so we wanted more of a casual tone to our wedding. Originally I was thinking maybe a chiffon flowy dress, but I made the mistake of trying on this huge toile filled dress with a train just "for fun" & now I'm falling in love with it! I've heard that those big dresses on the beach make beautiful pictures, but I just don't want it to look funny with me in this magnificent dress, & my FH not in a tux. I just don't know if this Cinderella dress is too much for an outside wedding? What do you think? Have you seen it done before?

Maybe he could wear a linen suit? I think as long as he has a jacket on, it will look fine.

I am wearing a trainless but airy and sorta poofy ballgown for my beach wedding. Tge guys will wear suit pants and vests over white button ups with their sleeves rolled up.

I did it and the pictures turned out amazing. I was so worried about wearing a ballgown style dress and having a train (also I wore a veil), but it was absolutely gorgeous! GO FOR IT!

And if you are worried about it being too big then skip the buying the slip. The alterations will give the dress some more body on its own.

Also if you want vendor recommendations for Tampa/St. Pete Beach area, private message me!

Those are really great pictures! That makes me feel a little better! The dress is absolutely stunning, but definitely not what I had in mind when I started trying on dresses today. It just kinda took me by surprise at how much I liked it! And we definitely thought of doing the dress pants with the button down shirt and vest for the guys. Thanks ladies!

Aimee I actually LOVE your pictures! And I'm thinking about the north west region of Florida, I'm from Alabama so it would be a little closer for my family to travel

@aimee love your pictures! Turned out beautiful!!!

@Samantha I think you should get whatever dress you want..you only get married once & you don't want to have regrets.

I like the idea as long as it isnt over the top and out of place. For example, if your FH isnt wearing a suit or tux, dont go crazy with a big dress, formal hair etc. Wear the gown, loose hair down, minimal makeup, maybe bare feet. If he is wearing a suit at least, I dont think its a problem- esp after seeing aimee's pics!

    Aimee: wow! on those pics!

I vote for wearing the gown you love! it's a wedding, and I can't imagine a beautiful bride ever looking out of place.

so what if the groom doesn't wear a tux? doubt if anyone will go home complaining that he didn't wear one.

I know there's a lot of opinion that you can't wear those types of dresses on the beach, I think that's silly. it may get a bit dirty, but you are only going to wear it once anyway.

The beach doesn't have a dress police to correct you&if you pass up on the dress of your dreams I think that is what you are going to regret. not that you wore something 'wrong' - good advice for me too!

pick the dress of your dreams, and GO FOR IT!

I think Aimee's pictures helped change my mind about a big dress for an outside wedding. I think it will definitely give me the "princess" vibe Smiley winking

I am having my wedding on the beach in California, and I have a Cinderella type dress. My FH will be wearing khaki linen pants, black button down shirt, and he wanted a Burberry tie to make his outfit special. So that's what he got! I am super excited. We aren't asking our guests to dress formal either. I don't think it will look awkward at all. I can't wait for it!

I've officiated many beach weddings with the groom in a tux and the bride in a full-blown wedding gown. I just recommend skipping a train or bustling it.
