Christmas wedding: support group

Lissett, on November 29, 2021 at 10:34 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9
Yes, I shamelessly want to have a Christmas wedding next year on 12/23! My husband And I got married 5 yrs ago by court in 12/23 and want to now get married with God in church ceremony . Plus including all family members and friends that want to join. So really important to have the same date for him and I. How else will he remember the date of our wedding lol. Side note: he asked me to be his Girlfriend and proposed on Christmas Day.
I want to have the theme of Christmas wedding for the reception. The church is always already decorated during this time just will need to on the aisles. I want snowy Christmas trees and pine cones and white lights. I like the dark pine green color with red flowers and white like snow.

I would love your ideas and what worked for your winter wedding.

I think that sounds beautiful Lissett!! And it's great that their existing holiday décor plays perfectly into your theme! 💖

First I'd make sure your church is willing to do a vow renewal ceremony when you're already legally married. If not, you may have to find a different venue. They might be willing to do a blessing

I'd be expecting a high decline rate because it's so close to Christmas. Also, having a 5 year vow renewal after a courthouse wedding is completely valid, but some guests may not be as excited about it.
If you're looking for a space that's already decorated, you could look into hotels or restaurants that have a ceremony space.

Hello Willow, no it’s not vow renewal for Catholic Church because matrimony is a sacrament. I’m not fully married in eyes of God, so I’m not allowed to do confessions. So they will support us to join together and promise our future children be Catholic too. Then for instance if someone marries by church Catholic and then legally divorced, the church will say they still married because they vowed to god until death. church requires someone to have marriage license ready before ceremony so my instance will be marriage certificate.

It won’t be an vow renewal because in eyes of god and Catholic Church I’m not married and did not officially vowed to God. For instance since legally married I still cannot do confessions. Another example is when people divorce but married in Catholic Church, they still consider them married and cannot remarry in Catholic Church. That’s because they vowed to god to be together until death. matrimony is a sacrament. So very important for me to have church ceremony, then I can plan to have children and we are committing to teach our children about Catholicism. No I won’t have bridal party but would like to host Christmas party they next day since family lives 3hrs away. I love those colors and will definitely like that. Thank you

I wouldn’t even have a wedding if I’m already married but that’s just me. I’d have a 10 yr bow renewal instead.
