Hey there! Those of you having weddings around Christmas...HELP! How would you decorate a barn for Christmas but also keep it elegant...and include kids? I'm stuck! Thank you!!

My wedding was late November in a mountain lodge and wasn’t meant to be Christmas themed, but I just love red and gold. We did red and white roses, gold centerpieces with candles, roses, and red ribbons, red tablecloths with white plates and gold flatware, gold tablecloths for the cake and guestbook tables. Aisle markers were lanterns with red & white flowers, greenery, and ribbons. I thought everything looked really nice.

Ours is in an outdoor lodge and we are doing white fabric hanging from the trusses. It makes it look so elegant, and is kid friendly because they can’t touch it. I would stray from candles and smaller centerpiece items that they could easily grab or break. If you keep it to a big statement centerpiece is better. Have items that look more expensive to make it elegant. Metals over a plain black. Nothing plastic, more greenery and flowers. If you are going to diy something make sure it’s really nice and not hot glue stick together that you can see. You don’t have to change much to include kids. You can do a separate kids table or just have the kids sit with their parents, decide that based on how many kids and their comfort level. I would go on Pinterest and see what others did similar theme. Good luck!

Not knowing what your venue will look like, but I would suggest letting your venue decorate for you.

Our venue was a golf club that was already going to be decorated for the holidays. We just added a few centerpieces and our welcome space and that was it! We focused in on using seasonal colors and florals as inspiration.

I attended a wedding the day after Christmas and my sister was part of one just this past winter that was a few days before Christmas. In both cases there was a Christmas tree, it was already part of the decor at the venue so it was left up. I think it added a nice element too. But, the wedding doesn't have to be centered around Christmas. Choose greenery and darker colors that are wintery. You can have berries or pine branches as part of your decorations or use lanterns as centerpieces. I would definitely have lights somewhere! Here's a few different things I found that might help.

I am getting hitched on December 12. I didn't want it centered around Christmas so I went with greenery and dark colors. I chose black, white, green, and gold. Kinda took inspiration from this.
