Choosing the right venue

Ysa, on January 26, 2020 at 7:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hello! Getting my in 9 months and put a hold on a venue after not having much luck with other places. This venue is beautiful but there are a few things I’m not sure about (1) There will be another wedding onsite that same day (2) Cocktail hour will be in same room as reception (3) The bridal suite is only big enough for 1 person. I dont want to settle but I also dont have a lot of options with the amount of time left. Help!

I would suggest go ahead and book The Venue but ask if your deposit is refundable and then keep looking and if something better comes up and take that option. Although like you said some venues book very proud Advance sold based on what you are wanting you have to compromise. I would suggest maybe book a hotel nearby that has a nice room to get ready and then just do the ceremony there if anything.

No problem. When Country Club I was looking at that would let us just have our ceremony there no reception has a locker room to get ready but it is not a place that I ever imagined taken before pictures whatsoever. So if we were to go with that venue than I would rent l a nice hotel that has a nice room for us to get ready. But it seems like a place we are checking out today has that but since for Sundays in their elopement package they only allows the venue for 3 hours then basically I would probably have to get my hair and makeup done off side and just get ready there.

I see. Go with your heart. If you love the place but they only allow 3hrs for everything, then getting make up and hair done at home or a nice nearby hotel is a great way to go. I think that is what I will do as well. Best of luck in your search and wedding planning!

Same to you. I would say the same that if you love the place then I would ignore those other things provided they do not conflict with your day and book it but if you feel there is something better out there then maybe put a refundable deposit down if possible and keep searching.

It would bother me that another wedding would be on site. Our reception was in a ballroom that could be divided into three separate areas, but if we had divided it then other events could have taken place during our reception. That was a big no for me so we rented the entire ballroom. The other events would have had to walk through where our cocktail hour was. I think I would want to know if you are going to have to share spaces if the other wedding. We also didn't hire a day of coordinator or wedding planner because our venue provided one so if you aren't hiring on and you are relying entirely on the venue then they will be split between you and the other wedding. The reception and cocktail hour being in the same space isn't a big deal. I agree with the others that you could book a hotel room or rent an Airbnb to get your hair and makeup done. If you book a hotel room, I would make sure it is large enough. My husband used the best man's room to get ready in and some of the photos look like of packed because the room wasn't very big. If it were me, I would probably keep looking due to another wedding being hoested there on the same day.

Is there a reason you're getting married in 9 months? Could you be more flexible on a date for a venue you have less concerns about?
