Choosing between vendors

Amers, on November 19, 2019 at 4:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
Hey all!

We had cupcake tastings with two vendors. Both were good but one was just a cupcake that tasted like one I made at home. The other was just better flavors and we preferred the frosting. If you’ve ever seen the movie Ratatouille, it was like the scene where the chef mouse gives his brother cheese and a grape and his mind swirls with color. I was just blown away with the flavor lol. ANYWAY, I’m not sure how to let the other vendor know we went with someone else. It’s not like she did a bad job, it just wasn’t as good as the other lady. How did/would you word this? I’m bad at telling people stuff like this. Thanks!

    Just be sincere!

I would say that you are appreciative of their time and effort but have decided to go a different direction

Vendors are used to it so don't feel bad

"Thank you for taking the time to give us such a wonderful tasting the other day! We loved everything you had. Unfortunately we have decided to go with a different vendor, however we will keep you in mind for the future. Again, thank you so much. We appreciate the work and time you have given to us."

Turning down vendors will get easier. You just have to keep it short and sweet.

This is basically what I've said to vendors I ended up not hiring! As Neeva said, it's part of the business for them so there shouldn't be any hard feelings
