Chocolate covered Strawberries for a Wedding Favor?

Sunny, on August 4, 2010 at 4:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Has anyone done this/seen this? I was thinking about doing chocolate covered strawberries and putting them individually in a mini box with a bow...

I'd have help with making them.

Could I do them the night before, or is this something that needs to be done the day of?

If I get really creative it could look like picture #2 Smiley smile

Great idea, but you'd need plenty of time to do it, not just 24 hours in advance. if you can dip them and box them up a few days before, you'll need room to keep them in the fridge until the reception. which means when you bring them to the venue the day of the wedding, the caterer will have to put them in the fridge until the cocktail hour and then they can set them out at each place setting. that's how I'd do it.

Ya, I'm starting to wonder how long it's going to take us to make them...

Why don't you do an experimental batch just for now. That will give you a better idea of how long it will take and it's not like they will go to waste. It's a starting point.

They are very time consuming to make, but sooo yummy. You may be better off buying them done, than making them. My 2 days before the wedding was hectic and you do not want to make them too early.

I'm thinking about doing it myself because it'd save money.

They're super yummy but time consuming! You have to have the choclate melted just right! The only down fall is that they have to stay cool, if not, they start to sweat and turn icky, and that start within 1-2 hours of being out of a cooler (in my past experiences) Have you looked into have assorted dipped fruit (not just strawberries) as your dessert?

You can do them yourself, but it's VERY time consuming. You would need alot of help, and alot of room to store them in a refrigerator both at home and at the venue.

I'd do a test batch of about 20 over the next few weeks. Try some different designs and get some ideas. That will show you if you can really do it time wise.

I'd be scared to do them myself because I'm sure we will all have much to do the closer the time gets for our weddings so I would be a little hesitant or stressed to think about doing them but I would so love to get these as a favor!! I love chocolate, you could dip a snail in chocolate and I'd eat it!
