Chicken or Fish? Entree poll

We have to choose a menu before we can schedule our tasting (we can change it if we don't like it after the tasting). We get to choose two entrees (plus a vegetarian option, but won't try the vegetarian one). We're pretty set on short ribs, but we don't know what the other option should be....

Originally I was thinking chicken, but now I'm wondering if the fish options would be better. Or one of the other ones? Options below- what would you choose?

Fennel-Braised Lamb Shanks with Lamb Demi

Roast Filet of Beef with Chimichurri Sauce

Slow-Roasted Duck with Dried Cherry Jus

Roasted Barramundi with Parmesan Broth

Seared Mahi Mahi with Tomato Nage

Braised Short Ribs with Orange Cardamom Sauce *this is the one we already want

Coriander Chicken with Salsa Verde

Tandoori Rubbed French-Cut Chicken Breast with Red Thai Curry Sauce

Thanks everyone! Chicken seems to be the popular choice so we'll stick with the original plan.

I can tell you that we offered, and how our counts worked out:

    (56) Filet Mignon with Brandy Cream Sauce

    (03) Chicken Breast with Champagne Shallot Reduction

    (18) Cedar Plank Salmon with Fresh Mango Salsa

    (01) Vegetarian

We were surprised the chicken counts were so low, and can't explain it...but take it for what you will.

I would do chicken. Fish freaks me out (texture thing) and chicken is more universally liked

If I was ordering off a menu, I would want the duck. But chicken is usually a bigger crowd pleaser. I think the coriander chicken in your best bet.

I'm a super picky eater so none of those sound like I would like them, but I would at least try it if it was chicken. If I only had the options of beef and fish I would stick with a salad and bread.

Ask if the Barramundi is farmed in Western Massachusetts! Here's a cool article about it: http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2010/10/the-anti-salmon-a-fish-we-can-finally-farm-without-guilt/64317/

I'm serving lamb and swordfish, we're on the water and I think it will go over well with our families. The choices from your caterer look great. I would try a couple options and choose the best tasting one.

We picked fish (there were two salmon options) over chicken. I myself would go for the duck or barramundi to eat myself, but the coriander chicken sounds safe.

I like very little fish, and I would be worried about eating short ribs at a wedding (messy?). Chicken is the best choice and will please the most guests! Is the curry chicken spicy? I would go with the other option.

We actually have our options as chicken, fish, or vegetarian. I always thought one option had to be beef because that's what I have always known at weddings but I've never been impressed with any beef at any wedding I've ever been to and when we taste tested I still wasnt impressed with any beef options. Fortunately FH and mom were in full agreement. Our vegetarian option is amazing. I drool just thinking about it.

These all sounds delicious! The Coriander Chicken with Salsa Verde sounds delicious! I know a lot of people who don't particularly care for seafood, myself included. I would also be pleased with the lamb, but that's one of my favorite meats.

People who won't eat fish usually despise it (like me). For that reason, I'd offer a chicken dish for some variety.

**Self-proclaimed picky eater** The only thing I would consider ordering on that list would be the fillet. If that wasn't an option, I'd probably go vegetarian and hope for the best. I know that doesn't help you too much. Just wanted to let you know that no matter how many opinions you get, there will always be some obnoxious person like me who won't see something they like. From everyone's reaction though, it looks like you're getting great feedback. Good luck at your tasting!
