Does anyone care what type of chairs they have at their reception?

Nope, I've never noticed chairs. Go with whatever is free from your venue. I was quoted absurd amounts to rent them when I was looking at a venue that didn't offer them.

I care, but I only have 13-15 guests so it is not a budget breaker.

I'm covering my banquet chairs... The other option was wood chairs that don't have cushions. I chose comfort

I'm renting chiavari chairs because I hate the banquet chairs my venue has.

I'm also renting king and queen thrones for our sweetheart table. I may be going overboard, but oh well! Lol

I am ordering wood chairs with a cushion. It's a little more but I wanted comfort and not cheap looking plastic.

I care that they're comfortable. One venue we saw had the world's most uncomfortable chairs. They looked normal, but they were Venus flytraps for the ass. FH sat down in one and then jumped up and stared at it like it had betrayed him.

What they look like? Not at all.

@OP and Ms2Mrs1029 .. I only care because chivary chairs are EXTREMELY uncomfortable and have a weight limit of 300 lbs. also keep in mind .. U can only really tell what chairs are in the room when the room is empty. Chivary chairs do look beautiful but omg I sat in one and stood right back up. I couldn't imagine sitting down through out a whole dinner that uncomfortable. I would never pay more money for me and/or my guests to be more uncomfortable. I am not a fan of the banquet chair look, but I am a fan of comfort.

The only thing I care about regarding chairs:

    There's enough of them.

Kristen - I agree. Every guest needs one.

So i cared about 2 things. 1 per butt. Comfy enough to sit through dinner.

The chiavari chairs were $4 more per chair, and I think they're less comfortable - though I do prefer the look of them. I went with the included white ones :p

I was adamant about two things: I didn't want to pay for chairs or extra lighting. I gave in on the rental lights because I was outvoted, but after thinking I was going to have to give in on the chairs too, I didn't and we are using the venue's banquet chairs, which are more comfortable than Chiavaris and I think they look absolutely fine. I was so adamant because before I was planning a wedding I never noticed what chairs were used. I noticed if they were covered and I got tangled in the cover, but that's about it.

I rented mahogany Chiavari chairs with cushions for my ceremony, and bistro height Chiavari's for my reception, because we have all bistro tables. I only like Chiavari. I insisted on them Smiley smile

Now I'm worried they aren't comfortable though....

@K&D17 .. That's how I felt at one point and was bummed that they were extra. I went to the venue to make a payment and spoke with my DOC and she went on and on about how uncomfortable they were and how some nights she has worried because of a few over weight guests because they do have a weight limit .. That same night I was out to eat with my gma and a few tables over I noticed an empty round table that had chiavari chairs. I got up to go and sit in them and stood right back up. They are horrible ! I couldn't even sit down for a few minutes and I couldn't imagine having to sit down through a whole dinner/ceremony/more than 2 minutes that uncomfortable. I took a biology class once and they had these stools that were uncomfortable. Needless to say, I couldn't focus on anything the professor was saying because all I could think about was how uncomfortable I was.

ETA: the restaurant we went to, the chiavari chairs were mahogany with cushions.

I hate the look of banquet chairs. I hate how many venues don't steam their chair covers and they are all wrinkly for the event. I also hate those stretchy chair covers because you can't tuck your feet under your chair. That being said, my venue only offers chiavari chairs. Looks wise, they are far better than any other chair. I wouldn't say they are uncomfortable exactly, but when I sit on them I do kind of feel like they will crumble under the weight of my fat ass.
