After watching Cheapest Weddings on Netflix I'm feeling so much better about my own wedding. So many notes of what not to do. What are you all doing to keep costs down?

Just made popcorn and am settling down to watch this show!

The show was hilarious and I'll have to watch it again with FH when he flies in on Saturday. Those fiance's who patiently helped set up their bride's reception vision reminded me of the patient cat meme who had a football helmet made from a lime on his head.
I would love to see a "where are they now in like 1-2 years".
I'm going to look this up tonight!! I have been trying to find ways to cut costs for our wedding. My parents want to pay for most of it, but I don't want to break them lol. Guest list looks like maybe 100 people would actually be expected to show up. Our venue is super close to FH's family and we got it for an AMAZING price. I am cutting back on florals and using a lot of pumpkins, because it will be October and I'm a basic sort of girl
I just finished watching all of the episodes. I guess it's common, in Australia, to have BYOB weddings where your guests bring their own Coleman coolers and roll up to the wedding??? Please tell me this is not true!
@SuYa I love the rehearsal dinner! I love Pizza Hut in the USA but I couldn't get over how nice they were over there when I went in one for the first time. Awesome choice!
We are keeping costs down by skipping flowers. Using silk flowers for bouquets and real greenery on the tables with candles. Candles are $1 a piece at the dollar tree. Our guest list isn't small (130) but its a lot smaller than what it could be with how big FH family is. We are doing southern BBQ which is much cheaper per person than any other type of food. This will also be served buffet style. I've bought/am buying all STD's, invites, and any other paper product through Vistaprint when they have sales. I priced out our entire invitation suite the other day and it'll be about $125 before a sale, so I'm happy about that.
I had no idea this was a thing, but now I MUST WATCH! Thanks OP!

It is absolutely not true. I think we Aussies are a bit more lax when it comes to etiquette but I have never been to a byob wedding or heard of any friends who have. Free beer and wine is pretty much standard.

You would’ve noticed though that all the ceremonies featured had some guests sitting but most standing. Now that is standard, I have never been to a wedding ceremony that had a seat for every butt unless it was in a church.

I didn't think they were all that bad, honestly. Yeah, a few made me raise an eyebrow but several of them were lovely.
Just saw episode one. I just couldn't figure out why the Norfolk Island couple just didn't start out by renting the town hall for $90 anyway...especially when everything else was "free". You can't shell out $90 for a comfortable indoor opportunity should weather backfire and thus keep everyone from setting up, dismantling, then setting up again? I hope the town got a cut of that $90 for all of their labor.
Thank you for posting about this show, I needed something to watch today on my day off. I only saw a few that really went "bad" or made me think, "I'm sooo glad I hired a professional for that." I think most of them turned out well. I was confused on the whole cooler at the wedding thing tho!
