Cheap wedding favors

Watts, on September 9, 2019 at 3:37 PM Posted in Planning 1 14
I hate having to use that word "cheap", because I greatly value everyone invited to my wedding, but finances are getting really tight. I'm actually really good at planning and finding deals, I've planned a great wedding for well below the average in Arizona. My problem is that I have zero financial help from our families and just this month ALL of my bridal party have come into big financial issues (issues that are more important than my wedding, rightfully so). I'll be paying for everything for the bridal party now, and I also have to pay for the flower girl's attire (my 3 nieces). So I'm needing to cut some corners to pull the rest of this wedding off.

I'm thinking of something like cookie bags.

What are your cheap wedding favor ideas?

I would advise against any sort of personalized koozies or things like that. Other than you, FH, and MAYBE close family, none of your guests are going to regularly use something with your names and wedding date on them. That, or they'll get lost/thrown away. Just a waste of money in my opinion!

The best favors are edible favors. We plan on doing some sort of small candy bags with a tag that says "A sweet ending to our new beginning". You could also skip them altogether, I don't think they're missed much Smiley smile

We are making homemade chocolates and bought fridge magnets off of Etsy with our names, date and they say thank you for sharing our special day. I think I got 100 of them for $80.

First of all, you don't need wedding favors at all! You are already spending a ton of money on your guests so that you can spend this special day with them. However, we also went the inexpensive route and our wedding favors are bottle openers that have tags that we're using as the escort cards. We got them from amazon, they have so many different styles and they are super inexpensive!

Skip them. Unless it’s food or booze, they will be left behind or thrown out eventually. If you’re looking to save a little while not looking cheap, make a donation to a charity that means something to you and post a sign saying that you made the donation in lieu of favors. You don’t have to announce the amount, and don’t have to donate any more that you can afford.

I always think the best favors are the edible kind. But I'm on such a tight budget, I'm skipping favors altogether.

If you read any of the forums on this topic, you'll find that increasingly couples are skipping this tradition, partly to save money, and also because it seems like guests are less and less interested in favors, and often don't even take them! So, I've decided that I don't need them.

Before I made this decision, I found some that I thought were pretty inexpensive on Marry Me By Oriental Trading. They have so many options!! And they can personalize with your names and date pretty cheaply. Good luck!

We are not doing favors. It was one cost that I didn't feel like we needed to have. I felt like we'd be left with a lot of favors and they'd be thrown away...

We did personalized bottle stoppers & potpourri bags. The bags were DIY so they were pretty cheap and the stoppers were around $1 a piece from Etsy.

The excellent news is that this is an expense that's very easily skipped! Save yourself some stress and some money and just don't worry about them at all!

If I were you, I'd skip them. If you really want them, we did matchbooks that cost 63 dollars for 100. If they don't get taken, we can totally use them.

I was under the impression it was still seen as tacky to skip favors. Thank you all for this info! We might wind up skipping them then!

We are doing a candy buffet with personalized candy bags. It also doubles as decor. (This is my inspiration pic)

Favors are totally unnecessary. Just skip ‘em. They won’t be missed. 👍
