Cheap Wedding Dresses

Krista, on March 21, 2021 at 9:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 17
Please share your wedding dress successes with cheap dresses. Looking to spend around $500. I’ve checked out BHLDN and David’s Bridal, but still looking!

Two relatives of mine bought their dresses as white gowns (not in the bridal section) and they were gorgeous!! Both spent only $200 and you wouldn’t know the difference 😉❤️

I got my dress at a local formal wear store that also had a small selection of wedding dresses (two small racks). Mine was about $400 but I love, love, love it. It was just my mom and I. We were not dress shopping that day but happened to pass the store and she convinced me to go in and look around. This was pre-COVID and it was just before prom so the place was swamped with teenagers and their mothers. Waited for a dressing room to open up and out of 4 dresses that I liked in my size, #3 was The One. I couldn't believe it could be so easy so I went home without it. Two days later and I couldn't stop thinking about it so we went back and bought it! Cheap Wedding Dresses 1

What about clothing retailers and department stores that don't specialize in wedding dresses?

You can find stunning, elegant non-wedding dresses, white or not, that can be perfect, cheaper if your wedding is casual or even semi-formal.

Many brides are looking at them as a way to save money they can splurge elsewhere.

I purchased mine from Etsy for $375. I was really nervous about it, but the seller worked with me to customize the dress, and it fit almost perfectly right out of the box. Just make sure you research the seller and read all their reviews, a friend of mine also bought from Etsy but from a seller who didn't specialize in wedding dresses, and the dress needed a lot of alterations.

Consider off-the-rack! My 2nd choice dress was a sample that was in great shape and about 60% off of list price because it was a prior year "model". There were tons of great deals in that section!

I recommend Lulus bridal collection! I got my dress for $228 and paid about the same for alterations, so close to $500 total.

Would you consider a pre-owned dress? I bought my dress for under $500 on StillWhite, and it retailed for well over $2k new.

I recently JUST heard about Azazie! I feel like I will be purchasing my wedding dress from them since they are just so reasonably priced. I will still be looking into David's Bridal just to see if I can get a feel for certain dress styles. Good luck hun!

If you're open to pre-owned, preownedweddingdresses.com and stillwhite.com are fantastic options. I would also call local private boutiques- I worked in bridal for three years, and we always did our best to accommodate every budget. We would sometimes sell recently discontinued or sample dresses for over 50% off, which is something a lot of shops do. Also keep in mind, if you're shorter than 5'10", you're going to need alterations at least for the hem, which has the potential to be costly. Just keep that in mind for budget!
