Just go with tons of hors deorves & try a mashed potato martini bar, it'll be a very big hit!

I used the caterer from the local VFW. They were $7.00 a head for a buffet two meat dinner. It was priced cheap but the food wad delicious. I had shopped around the local restaurants, and hotels. The restaurant food was good but pricey and the hotels were way out of my budget.

My ex-husband owns a pizza shop. He offers Pasta platters and large subs, finger foods like chicken wings, maybe you can find a shop like that in your area if the VFW can't help out. Or I come from a large family, my sister asked my aunts to make dishes to bring and they set everything out buffet style. That worked out great for her.

Do not forget Sams Club or the deli at your local supermarket might have party specials to offer you.

    Best Wishes,

What about having a BBQ? Those usually don't cost much per head?

Are you making the food yourselves? For appetizers, you can buy little phyllo cups and fill them with anything! Do you need to put out food that doesn't need to be heated? Let us know a little more info and I'll try to come up with some ideas!

We would be making everything ourselves...and everything would either have to be served cold or room temp.

I was wanting to have the food set out enough food for each table on each table. I've got plenty of cousins that have offered to help keep them filled as the reception goes on but I don't think I'll be able to do that now....

Would it be bad to have a salad and fruit bar and JUST have that?

If you're catering it yourself and need ideas for room temp food, try this website: http://www.chefmike.com. He gives you all the tips on food that's affordable for every budget and how you can "cater" your own wedding. He even has freebies on his website for some ideas. He has for maybe $5 on how you can do these wonderful pineapple palm tree fruit desplays. Here's another website that might be of some help for you: http://lotsofinfo.tripod.com/weddinghelp.html
