Changing Name Before Wedding

I think the process to change your name without marriage/divorce is strenuous and requires a lawyer but check on your states laws.

What davistobe said. It's a long process to change your name without marriage license/divorce decree. You could just move as your name and change your name after you move

It's long and expensive without a wedding license. Leave your name alone until you move and have your license in hand, then change your name and your passport.

You need a copy of your marriage license to change your name with the Social Security Administration. You can't change your passport until after the SSA has updated your name.

Just book your travel in your maiden name so your tickets to England match your passport. I still haven't started the name change process since our flights to Greece are booked in my maiden name. You can socially use his name until you can get it legally changed

I dont think so in order to change your name to his i believe you need your marriage certificate to do that

Melissa, I wish it was that cheap here! It's going to cost over $400 for me to add my second middle name.

My name change cost me 210 dollars and almost 2 months in 2008. Just like Melissa I had to put an ad in the paper and then wait for clearance... then appear before a judge. I would do it all over again, even though my name is changing again in 4 months
