Changing For The Reception?

Olivia, on November 11, 2019 at 9:14 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
I’m trying to decide if I want to change dresses for the reception. I feel like I want to get my money’s worth out of my dress but then again, I’m sacred I’m gonna dread dragging it around and get hot (I am NOT a nice person when I’m hot 🥵). What are you doing?

I’m changing for my reception! I got awesome deals on 2 dresses and I didn’t wanna be in a tight fit n flare all night. 1st pic is my ceremony dress and 2nd is my reception Hayley Paige dress!

    Same here!
I want to be able to maximize my beautiful wedding gown but at the same time I'm dreading being hot.

Maybe change half way through the reception just before everyone hits the dance floor and turn up LOL! 💃💃🕺🕺

If you can afford it, why not? However, if you are having an indoor reception with central AC, I wouldn't be too worried about it. I got married on July 20 this past year. It broke records for being the hottest day in a very long time (I think it was about 105). I was fine thr whole night because everything was inside (ceremony originally planned for outside but moved due to the heat). I had a bustle so that mu train wasn't dragging around. Granted, by the end of the night I wanted to get it off, but I think I'd be like that if I wore any formal gown for over 10 hours.

I was thinking the same thing (to change midway in the reception). If I do get a 2nd dress I won’t be spending that much on it.

True! Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors so we’ll definitely have ac (thank goodness)! I wish you could have saw my eyes when I read 105! 😳

I don’t plan on changing dresses, but I am going to get an inexpensive reception dress just in case I get too hot or uncomfortable. If I don’t wear it I can just return it!

I agree with everyone! Maybe get one that is inexpensive just in case but if it’s inside that no need to worry. What about having it bustled so you can pin the back and you aren’t dragging it as much?

Oh yeah, it was terrible. People were literally texting our parents in a panic asking if the ceremony was outdoors. We were out there for about 20 minutes for the first look photos and my poor husband was so hot in his tux.

Depending on the style of your dress you can always add something to make it look like two different dresses. I have a very fitted sheath dress for the reception, and a detachable ball gown for the ceremony. You could do something like that, so you get the look of two dresses and also a more easily movable dress for the reception without buying two separate dresses.

My mom switched and put on much more casual clothes for the reception and she said she did it for the comfort. I am not planning on changing though because I'm not usually one to spend a lot of money on clothing so I want to get all the wear out of the dress I can so I picked one with comfort at the reception in mind

I bought a second dress to change in to for my recent and then never ended up using it. Luckily for me I bought it from a store where I could return it.....something to think about.

I didn't change but honestly it's a good idea because you could change into something that's easier to move in

I'm keeping mine on because I absolutely love my dress. Besides...my wedding is in February and I'm having a restaurant reception.
