Change of plans- We're eloping

Kaylynn, on April 17, 2020 at 12:24 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
Hey fellow brides and grooms to be!! My fiance and I have decided that it would be safer for us and our families if we took our 200+ wedding plans and eloped just the two of us (and our photographers) on our wedding date then had our huge renewal or vow/ re-do wedding later on when things clear up a little bit. We sent out Save the Dates back in November and now we're wondering how to go about telling our whole guest list. Do we add a new detail card that says we're eloping? Do we call each and every person? Help!!

Detail cards typically go in invitations and since you don’t have a date set, I’m not sure how that would work out. You could send postponement notifications, however, you’d end up spending money on two sets of save the dates, postponement notifications, and invitations. Seems like reaching out to each household individually would be the easiest and most budget friendly option.

I would try to get in touch with everyone personally and let them know about your change. Of course they should understand given the circumstances. I hope you are able to get all of your money back. Good luck.

    Hi Kaylynn,

I'm so sorry you had to change your plans, but you are not alone. Keeping a positive attitude (through a funny announcement) can only help during this unprecedented situation.

Here are a couple of discussions with postponement examples:

    - Coronavirus Postpone Announcements

    - Website Wording for Postponed Weddings due to COVID-19

You'll also find more information (less funny) here: How to Word Your Wedding Postponement Announcement. There's also a glass half-full perspective piece: “My Wedding Was Postponed Due to Covid-19, but Now I Get a ‘Do-Over’” (with a link to a video at the bottom).

I'm wishing you the best of luck! nLxcI1gBilPA_DYsaorCTBp6X1DzLckXmXiZsyyg

Hi Kaylynn! Do you have a date in mind for the big renewal? If you already have a new date locked down then I'd send "change the date" cards, but if you aren't committed to a new date yet then I'd call or email your guests! Whatever cuts down additional costs and communication! Smiley winking
