Champagne-Prosseco-Sparkling Wine options

Aleluya, on January 21, 2016 at 1:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 24

Hey! I'm celebrating my first month being engaged (yeiiii)!! Planning my engagement party under the "Brunch and Bubbly" theme... Since FH and I will be paying for everything (we think), I would like to find a good, not too expensive Champagne-Prosseco-Sparkling Wine... I would love to have some Moet, Dom Perignon or Veuve Cliquot- but they are definitely not inside the 'friendly budget' section... Any suggestions for Mimosas or a toast? What did you do at your Engagement Party?

Barefoot has some affordable options. We are having Tiziano Prosecco for our wedding, FBIL works for a distributor and suggested it for an affordable option. We did not have an engagement party though Smiley smile

Btw, as an addition to Mimosas, you can also try Kir Royals or Bellinis Smiley smile

I was under the impression that engagement parties are not something to be thrown by the bride and groom. Along the same lines as a shower, it seems gift grabby and a little "oh look at me".

If you're mixing the champagne then it doesn't need to be too fancy, anything but Andre, haha. I like to do orange juice and a bit of pineapple or cranberry juice.

What swolemates said. You shouldn't be throwing an engagement party.

Champagne recommendation: Cooks just above Andre.

An affordable bubbly without the cheap taste would be lamarca prosecco.

ETA: barefoot actually has a bubbly that is cheaper than lamarca and is still tasty.

Costco caries a cheap, and I'm told good, prosecco. (I hate champagne, so I detest it, but everyone else who participated in the tasting loved it.)

La marca prosecco is amazing. runs about 14.99 per bottle, evem cheaper if youre buying by the case.

Not sure about your theme but there are some great bubbly sangria recipes that would allow you to supply a great deal of drinks and you can you very low costing prosecco/champ. You can't taste the difference with the great added flavors!

My MOH threw us an awesome bubbly brunch! We had korbel but her hubby works for the company, so it was donated. We mixed with OJ, grapefruit juice, and pink lemonade (a big hit!) but there are tons of options!

This is a no-no. Bride and Groom shouldn't be hosting their own engagement party, just like you shouldn't host your own shower. You have over 2 years to go, I would wait and see if someone offers to host one for you.

As far as champagne goes, Korbel.

Costco has an awesome prosecco. It's like 8 bucks (here in ca and in az). Can't think of the name but it's got a purple label. And they also have a blood orange juice that comes in a 6 pack for like 12 bucks. Stuff is amazing. I don't even use oj for mimosas anymore. Oj is child's play compared to blood orange juice.

Almost any prosecco and some cava are inexpensive and good. You really can't go wrong!

    You don't throw your own.

I'd do Frexinet; usually under 12.00 a bottle; the brut is great.

Try a sparkling Moscato.. The only reason its not 'champaign' is because its not from Champaign, France. This is my favorite, about $11

Beverages and More always has buy one get one for $.05 sales. That's the best time to stock up. For a good champs/sparkling when buying in bulk I love Francis Ford Copolla Sofia brand Rose or Blanc de Blanc.

Consider a Cava. It's a Spanish sparkling wine, and I like it better than Prosecco. My favorites are Segura Viudas and Cristalino, but I believe Freixenet is also a Cava. Brut is my favorite, but if you like yours a little sweeter go for an Extra Dry.

Moscato is basically sugar water with bubbles if you're expecting a champagne* style wine. Dibon Cava is lovely, dry, and in the $10-15 a bottle range. I also like Cristalino Cava, and Zardetto Prosecco for slightly cheaper options. Gruet Brut is an American dry sparkling that's really nice as well.

Second @dancingbearbride with Chandon. It's a great mid-range sparkling wine. A few steps up from a Cooks/Andre but still affordable.
