Chairs For Beach Wedding???

Nikki, on June 11, 2009 at 8:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

My wedding is going to be directly on the sand and we expect around 100guests old and young would it be a bad idea to have no chairs or maybe a row of chairs for the ederly in the back and then blankets for everyone else to sit on.

Also does and one know what those box like chairs are called their almost like foot rests but larger and you sit on them.

All the beach weddings that I have seen had chairs for everyone. I am not sure if your guests would be comfortable sitting on a blanket especially since they will probably be dressed up.

Most weddings in Fl. on the beach have chairs for everyone either supplied by the venue or a rental company. Or they have no chairs if it is a smaller, brief (15-20 min. ceremony)

If you decide to use your own chairs be very careful. Not all chairs will sit properly in the sand. You don't need an elderly guest or heavy person falling over.

I to am having a beach wedding. I am not doing chairs because the venue does nto provide them and they are way to expensive to rent here so we chose a place where we could have everyone stand behind us and still see and hear the ceremony. Most of the people invited are young and can stand for 20 minutes. It's not ideal but for a short ceremony, I don't think anyone will complain to loudly. Even if they do, oh well. I have told people they can bring there own lawn or beach chairs if they wish but I don't think they will. Hope this helps.

We're having about 60 guests for our beach wedding and while I really wanted to avoid the extra cost of renting chairs (plus the time it will take to set them up) I found it unavoidable. Luckily I found a place that rents the really nice white chairs w/ padded seats for $2/ea (everyone else I found wanted $3+ for them!) so I am going to use those. I want my guests to be as comfortable as possible. i have been to beach wedding where there were no chairs and it just seemed a bit chaotic and uncomfortable, no one was grouped correctly and it was a bit of a mess. I agree that while blankets seem like a good idea but people may not be comfortable getting down like that in their dresses etc. and it would be hard for older people.... SOrry I don't know what those little chairs are called ubt it's a good idea!

Im in houston and i think that it depends on how long the ceremony is (if there are alot of extras like signing, longer than 20 minutes than chairs are necessary. it will be very important to start the ceremony on time. give your guest something to hold/waive like the kissing bell/wedding wands or bubbles. i think you will be perfectly fine. it all depends on the attitude of the bride and groom. your guest are there to witness your union and i dont think they will mind, i specialize in budget friendly weddings, so if you can avoid the cost then do so. there is a free budget friendly weddings expo march 21, 2010 www.budgetfriendlyweddings.com id love for you and your wedding party to come, you can get great ideas and meet local budget friendly vendors, its your wedding day, spend the money you would have spent on chairs on food, or drinks, or save it, spend it on your honeymoon Smiley smile
