Ceremony venues? ma or nh

Naoomi, on May 6, 2020 at 8:16 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
We want a really small wedding (50-75) and I’m not too concerned about a huge reception. But I want to know if anyone knows of really pretty ceremony sites only, we’d be going to a restaurant after to celebrate (rented out). So I wanna know if anyone’s in the same boat and what to do? I grew going to a church in Boston but my FH thinks that his family may be too lazy to make the drive to anywhere that seems inconvenient. My family’s the opposite and doesn’t mind the distance. Most of his family is from Lowell, does anyone know really beautiful places in that area? Or a beautiful church, in this area or Southern New Hampshire. I’d really appreciate it because I’m so confused about what to do!!

Sorry for the rambling.

I'm not familiar with the area, but most churchs require that you be a member in order to have your wedding there. What about finding somewhere like a park or garden? Most wedding venues make their money from the reception so finding a traditional wedding venue that you can only host your ceremony at is going to be difficult. Have you actually talked your fiance's family to see if they have an issue with traveling? You guys won't know if you don't actually sit down and talk to them about it.

I’ll try to see, we’re apart of one in our area but it’s way too huge to for what we’re trying to have. We’ll try to sit down with his family, they’ve just never treated him well and supported him with anything. So we’ve tried avoiding making things awkward and I don’t want his feelings to be hurt seeing people not show up. But we will approach the idea to them and maybe see where it goes, thank you!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I found Hornblower Garden which is located in Plymouth, MA which is a little over an hour from Lowell, but I googled it and it says that Boston is only a half hour from where most of his family lives so if they aren't willing to drive thirty minutes then I doubt they would drive an hour. It seems crazy to me that they couldn't drive thirty minutes for your wedding. Again I am so sorry.

Thank you for your research! We are thinking maybe work with local restaurants and see if we can use the place for a ceremony too but it might run up our budget. It’s been pretty tough trying to do this because I know it means the world to him to have them there just in support so it’s a compromise I’m willing to make. Thanks again!! I’m hopeful it will workout!

I'm in MA but I don't know Lowell very well. I know that Massachusetts allows you to do wedding ceremonies in many state parks, so depending on weather, you might be able to use one of those. I don't have enough time to do a ton of research at the moment, but a lot of state parks do have buildings, so you might be able to use one even if the weather isn't great.

Here's a link to some of them:

    https://www.mass.gov/info-details/weddings-at-state-parks

It also says that you can contact parks directly if they're not on that list, and I think you can find contact info for most of them through the state website. NH laws are pretty relaxed for the most part, so you can probably find something similar there.
