Ceremony Music for an outdoor wedding

Franklin, on February 5, 2011 at 2:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

I'm wondering if anyone has an advice on this.

My husband and I want an outdoor wedding at the park he proposed to me at which is in his home town. I know the DJ we want can do ceremony music it's just I don't want to have to put the stress on them to set up and then take down and move to the reception site. I also don't want to pay for the extra cost. (I worked for this company so I know how it is to deal with all that junk)

Does anyone have any suggestions as what to do for a ceremony at a park??? I'm not too sure about the electricity situation as in if there is an outlet or not like there are at some parks.

Please and Thank yous!

I would go and check the electricity situation first. Then if there is an outlet you can do just about whatever you want. If not then you will be best with live music. You could probably get the top chairs of your high school band for a decent price.

The high school band thing is actually a really good idea! Thanks!

We didn't have a dj but we set up the same sound system equipment at the train depot/garden for our ceremony and then DS's cousin took it to the reception and set it up. I know a friend of mine got married in a park and his wife's father set up an ipod and speakers they rented in the gazebo and then the dj was at the reception. It worked out pretty well. Maybe talk to the company and just see what they'd recommend.

Guitarists, string quartets and even soloists could work very well, but you're going to have substantial sound dissipation. If it's a 50-70 person wedding, it might not be an issue. However, if you're having 300, you will definitely have a hard time being heard.

You should also consider a couple more things... do you want your guests to hear your officiant's celebration? do you want your guests to hear you say "I do"? If you do, you really should get a full PA, which might best achieved through your DJ. I can't imagine the cost of a rental being a very competitive price compared to a DJ for this type of situation.
