Ceremony in Reception Hall

My fiance and I just booked our wedding venue (barn themed). Ideally, the ceremony would be outside and the reception would be inside the barn. Our coordinator suggested the idea of having the ceremony indoors where the reception is (keep the reception set up) in case it rains. I like the back up idea, however, has anyone seen this set-up be successful?

    It's pretty common. Either guests can sit at the tables or the tables can be moved to the sides. Chairs will be divided into two spaces to create an aisle. Once the ceremony is over it may take 5-10 minutes to put everything back in place. Overall it's not a big deal.

    I think it’s more common than you think. I’ve seen several wedding photos on here where people have done that and I went to one recently. The barn was so beautiful and they had string lighting. I would ask to see the set up and see if you like it.

    Definitely very common! My sister's wedding had round tables throughout the reception area and they got married in the middle of it. It was beautiful and open seating.

    That's our back-up plan! We have an outdoor ceremony set up, and then dinner inside on the ballroom. If weather requires indoor ceremony, then they will flip the ballroom during cocktail hour (held next door) from ceremony set up to reception set up.
