Central Pennsylvania Outdoor Wedding Sites

Leslie, on January 5, 2013 at 7:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

I need help. I am currently deployed and trying to plan a wedding for fall 2014. My fiance and I both want to get married outdoors, but it is hard to find a location being several thousands of miles away, and him working many hours. We looked at one, but we thought the cost was outrageous (although it was nice). We live near Williamsport, and want something within 3 hours of our home, so our family doesn't have to travel exessively far. It doesn't necessarily have to be an actual wedding venue, if it is somewhere that we could have a ceremony and reception.

Leslie, post your inquiry again on Monday. It will get lost in the spam shuffle this weekend.

My sister lives in Northumberland. I don't know the name of it, but the big park down near the river is absolutely gorgeous!!!

I know Williamsport well too. I also pee in that McDonalds. LMAO

What about the Lake Nockamixon area? It may be a tad bit more than 3 hours though.

We used to go past Williamsport on our way to camping. Try looking around Wellsboro. The college might have rental space. The whole area is beautiful. Also check out state forest and park lands. There are 2 lookouts over the PA Grand Canyon. One is Colton Point but I can't remember the other's name. They both have large open areas, which might have rental. Check out Ricketts Glen area. They have areas for rentals.

    Good Luck!

I am also getting married in Central PA, but in my grandmother's back yard, so that doesn't help. In Potters Mills (Centre County) there is something called General Potter's Barn. (http://www.generalpotterfarm.com/) It is gorgeous, and you can get married indoors or outdoors on their property. A drawback is that it is a little pricey, from what I've heard. Good luck!
